Sea grass woven placematLindaLooks great on our Ikea white table. It does shed tiny bits of dried grass, but that is to be expected with a natural product. Do look for dye lot numbers on the tag if you want them to match.

However, after paying for it and starting to carry it out of the store, my clothes were covered with bits of the ‘wicker” material and they just kept shedding. I plan to return it. Is there not a better product to use that does not shed? Did not want to take into the house and have it all shed on my table, floor, drawers or anything. Sorry to be the bearer of ‘bad tidings’ as the overall look is what I was wanting.

I ordered these for a small round table and 4 fit beautifully around them. (The table is also from IKEA). The best thing is they don't shed. I thought they might fall apart with use but they are sturdy and easy to wipe down when needed.

What is seagrass?
Sedge (or seagrass) grows naturally in South-East Asian coastal areas. For our products, we mainly use cultivated sedge from field areas that have previously been flooded by the sea, making them unsuitable for rice cultivation. But sedge grows well in salty soils and even helps cleanse them. After harvest, the plant is left to dry in the sun making it a hardwearing fibre ideal for weaving or braiding baskets and mats with beautiful colour variations.
