Product details

1 door with 4 different expressions. Choose to use HÖGBO as a glass door, with the included white or black panel, or place photos, fabric or wallpaper between the glass and the panel for a personal look.

Adding a door to BILLY bookcase gives it both a new expression and new functions such as hiding and protecting what you store.

Adjustable hinges allow you to adjust the door horizontally and vertically.

Good to know

A white/black panel to be attached behind the glass is included.

1 door will fit BILLY bookcase 15¾" and 2 doors will fit BILLY bookcase 31½".

The door does not fit bookcases purchased in the spring of 2014 or earlier.

Tempered glass is 4-5 times stronger and more resistant to breaking than regular glass. If it breaks, it shatters into many granular pieces to reduce the risk of injury.

Care

Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Use only water or window-cleaner.

Wipe dry with a clean cloth.

Safety and compliance

Handle with care! A damaged edge or scratched surface can cause the glass to suddenly crack or break. Avoid bumps from the side - this is where the glass is most vulnerable.

Terrible design. Poor quality.AnneInstructions direct you to secure the book case against the wall before starting. It is easier if you do NOT do this, but lay the thing on the floor. They could very easily mark where to attach hinges on the door frame so that the hinges align with the holes on the case. This is pressboard, so you cannot afford to be putting screws in and out or the attachment points disintegrate. Instructions show "A, B and C" placements for hinged but these are NOT marked. Marking hinge location could be so easy but, they don't do that. It's impossible to assemble without doing your own measurements and possibly damaging your shelf. No excuse for this bad quality.1
Build quality and colour optionEdwardThe craftsmanship of the Högbo glass door is mediocre. The vertical frames on both sides aren’t straight—they curve inward like an hourglass—resulting in a larger gap in the middle compared to the top and bottom. Overall, I’d rate it 6.5 out of 10. When this product was first released, it was available in black, but now only the white version is offered. Unless installed on a white Billy bookcase, the door doesn't match well with walnut or black Billy bookcases. I had no choice but to spray-paint it to address this issue. Interestingly, the black Högbo is still available in the U.S.3

horrible door, the lock dose not work. DO NOT RECOMMEND! LianghuiI purchased the IKEA HÖGBO glass door, and it has been a disappointment since day one. The locking mechanism that connects the metal part to the bookcase is poorly designed and doesn't hold the door securely. The door started coming loose and wouldn’t close properly after just a few days, even less than a week. We spent several hours assembling it, only for it to fail almost immediately. The design simply doesn't make sense. Fortunately, neither we nor our cats were injured when the door came loose, but it’s unacceptable that this product is so poorly made. It is not an expensive door, but feel horrible to pay $70 for this bad quality/design and living in danger. 1
