A Gift for My Daughter - she's very happy with it!RosemaryThis was a Christmas gift for my daughter. (She asked Santa for it - letter delivered via her Mother!) :) She's very happy with it. It assembled easily, is sturdy, holds the small items she's planned for it - pens, pencils, paper, some art supplies - and possibly a few things she hasn't thought of yet. She's happy with it...5
Great idea, great size, poor execution of critical elementsAngelaI love a lot about this unit. However, it is extremely flimsy; the top part constantly falls off. I tried to push it back to the right position the second time and ended up pushing the back of the unit in. The wheels only go back and forth, so no turning. It’s a bit useless for my purposes when all is said and done, but I can imagine someone needing a few extra drawers who would be happy to have this.2
Fabulous item, but assembly will give you grey hairsKateMany years ago, I had one of these little units but sold it when I no longer needed it. I remember folding and banging and screwing everything together, but I distinctly do not recall suffering such anguish as I had assembling this unit a few months ago. I don't know if something's changed, but it fought back hard every step of the way. The drawer rails want to jump out of their slots constantly, and trying to keep the lid on properly while holding the sides upright nearly made me cry and curse the name of my dear, sainted mother (RIP). Even months later, I think one of the drawers has slipped on one side. Mama didn't raise no quitter though, so I'll keep bashing at it until it's too afraid to fall apart. Buyer beware. 3
Falls apart - poor poor qualityShawnaI wish I had read the reviews more thoroughly before I purchased this, but I thought - it’s IKEA, how bad can it be?? BAD. I’ve never seen a piece of ikea furniture so flimsy. A simple touch and the rails fall off for the drawers. Has anyone found a fix for how to salvage this rather than just let it hang the 0.005” off the rail and pray it doesn’t fall?!?! Absolutely stunned that “bending a tab” is an acceptable building practice. Do better ikea, this is just embarrassing.1
Helmer drawer unit on wheelsGloriaIt’s a smaller filing cabinet on wheels. It’s has various uses. I use it for storing some computer papers , crafting items and smaller tools, like screwdrivers, pliers, and nuts and bolts. It’s very versatile and I would definitely buy it again.5
Great little cabinet!! But.....RobThis little cabinet provides lot of storage (but I would not use it for heavy things like piles of paper.) The secret to a successful Helmer is take your time putting it together and follow the instructions CAREFULLY. As others have written, one has to bend many little metal tabs to assemble it AND YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE WITH EACH TAB, so you want to get it right. It did take a bit of time to assemble, but at 11" wide it is and amazing asset to anyone living in a small space. I am already wondering where I can squeeze in a second one!5
Okay productAnthonyOkay product with questionable connections between parts. Also can't hold much load from the top. It does look stylish in my opinion though and offers more compartments that competitions. But instead of looking at it as a metal unit, I think it's more comparable to a plastic unit.3
useful but terribly hard to assembleYasminetook toooooo long for such a small drawer unit to be assembled. 3
All is iron, no woods, very loose after assemblingPatrickThis is the worst thing I’ve ever bought from IKEA. The material is actually just an iron frame with no wood at all, and after assembly it falls apart very easily.1
Drawers detach easily AshleyIt’s a good narrow storage shelf. We use it to store tools and medical supplies. Maybe I’m putting it together wrong but the side rails keep detaching and falling out of place. Looks good but low build quality. Also, it’s a very noisy furniture piece so don’t put it somewhere like a nursery or shared work space.
And be careful of the instructions and make sure things are oriented properly. It’s not obvious which way things should be folded or inserted sometimes. 3
Poor quality BaileeWill be returning. Took forever to try and keep the pieces together as you move in to next steps. Rails fall out of place so drawers keep becoming misaligned. 1
Falls ApartAnonymous reviewerWorst item I've purchased. The drawers come off the track constantly. I spent some much time putting the drawers back, I ended up removing them and placing them on the ground. Looks nice, but useless. Save your money and buy something better quality.1
Good value for the pricePuiGood overall but a bit difficult to assemble. Some parts don't align very well and needed some brute force.4
Dented, warped, wobbly and noisy EydisThis purchase was delivered to my place, and upon opening the Helme box I noticed some dents in the top and side, but decided to put together as returning is not that easy for me.
I didn't find it that hard to assemble (great YouTube vids help) but after the third drawer I stopped and I will be returning it.
The drawers are not flush on one side as the whole cabinet is warped. And I noticed as I put the drawers in that the metal on metal sound is loud and irritating. I can't imaging having to hear that every time I open these drawers.
And the wheels, there is too much room for error in the placement of them so getting them lined up is almost impossible.
I'm quite a bit bummed as this drawer size is perfect for the place I needed it, and the look of it is what I like, however I would have bought the Alex drawer had I had the room.
If I had been at the store and seen it, I definitively would not have bought it, as it just isn't worth the money to me.1
Perfect for my purposeSusanSmall, wheeled and good for keeping a multitude of small things organized. Reasonably easy to assemble. 5
Falls apart too fastArashIt's garbage. I bought this a long time ago and I just threw it out after having it in the basement for a while. All of its drawers fell apart less than 4 months later despite light usage. Just spend a bit more and get Alex, otherwise you'll have to get a new drawer in a few months anyway1
Functional NhacGreat5
Its nice but not so easy to assembleEarlYou need an electric drill to screw in the legs. I had to buy a small electric to finish, -$30 to me.
The rest was fine, Perfect height to put under my table.4
Terrible - falls apart easilyAliceOnly half a year passed before the drawer started to fall apart. Since this isn't built with nails or anything sturdy, the handles come off etc. do not buy. I thought it would be good because it looked clean and easy to build, but just buy a slightly more expensive one for better quality.1
Flimsy drawersJeanieI purchased these for my granddaughters and with in a year, one had lost a drawer front and all the drawers were loose. Very flimsy and do not age well at all.1
