Beautiful and easy to assembleAlI bought two of these and they were relatively easy to put together. The look and finish are very good, considering they are whitewashed pine. Folks who have criticized the finish need to wonder why they bought whitewashed pine and not some heavily varnished painted MDF. The hinges work fine, but do take a little skill to assemble. The ends of the hinge screws are blunt and they need to go in holes that are properly sized — I would suggest Ikea rethink the screws so the ends are tapered more to more easily guide into the holes. And when attaching the hinges to the sidewalls the amount of torque required to screw them in completely is deceiving. And they all have to be screwed in completely in order for the adjustment screws to work. Better yet, switch to two-piece hinges that can be attached while the sidewall panels are laying flat on the floor. Lining things up is a lot easier when working flat rather than standing up. 5
Quality downgradeAndyThe last items that I purchase seem having downgrade on quality than what I am used too. I purchased different items in the past and I was satisfied. Now (past weeks) I purchased different items (based on my past experience with Ikea) and I kind desapointed. The quality of products seems downgraded. On PAX items, different holes are not propely drilled and the sometimes wood chips interferes with slot and with the finish film (bad visual apperence). Then on a Havsta modul, the paint is kind of cheap. It likes of only one layer of paint and the wood pin is not completly covered. The door hinges with "break absortion" not work properly and the doors not close correctly (still a gap or not completely closed), even if I did different adjustment. So, on my side, the quality system is might be not well follow or set aside.3
Great cabinet but the finish is iffyAnneI purchased 2 Havsta matte black cabinets to sit side by side. Fortunately, I didn't have to put them together! The Task Rabbit man did a fine job.
However, I can see that the finish will be problematic with daily use as the surfaces are course. It will need to be coated to avoid scuffs and dents and so it can be easily cleaned.4
No way to attach top unitAnonymous reviewerFully assembled this without issue. Now I'm assembling the top unit and there are supposed to be holes in this unit to secure the bracket that holds the top and bottom together. Those holes are missing!!! 1
