Very Poor Quality – Basically Disposable FurnitureAndyI bought the IKEA HAUGA wardrobe with sliding doors about 2 years ago. It was fine until I needed to move.
My professional mover told me this type of IKEA wardrobe is extremely difficult to move. If you move the whole wardrobe without disassembling it, the particleboard can crack. If you disassemble it first, the boards and connectors can crack or break when you take them apart. Either way, there is a high risk of destroying the wardrobe.
That is exactly what happened to mine. The boards broke around the connection points and the plastic connectors also broke. You can see from my photo how easily the material crumbled around the screw holes.
Basically, once this wardrobe is assembled, it becomes almost unmovable. A wardrobe should not become disposable just because you need to move after 2 years.
Very cheap materials and disappointing quality. If you are renting or may move in the future, I would NOT recommend buying this wardrobe.

Sliding doors need major improvementMishaThe sliding doors are very unsafe. The lock mechanism does not work and the doors fall off. I've had the same issue with another wardrobe I bought several yrs ago, the doors fell on another furniture and broke it. Too bad Ikea hasnt taken the steps to fix this.
Hauga ClosetMarianneExcellent Closet. Nice and tall, love the slider doors as it is a space saver in a smaller room. It came with 2 shelves and we purchased 2 extra shelves ...very spacious unit, strong and sturdy! Room to place Ikea storage boxes on top. We Purchased Ikea wood hangers and pant hangers and can fit 40 clothing items without crowding.

What about those optional shelves?NammiEasy to assemble and love the idea that I can add shelves to this for folded items – instead of hanging them – except that the shelves aren't available at all despite Ikea's website description. It's not a stock issue. They're just not available. Would give this a much higher rating if available.

First one took about an hour and a half but each one after took about 45 minutes. Every one was damage free and that's incredible because usually one piece has damage.

Awesome Hauga!ErocaI've now purchased six items from the Hauga series to create more storage and organization in my bedrooms. Beautiful, easy to assemble if you go slowly and closely look at the instructions. Delivery was fast and efficient - so much easier than try to load the heavy items into our vehicle.
Nice wardrobe for the costLorrieI really like the look of this wardrobe and the size is perfect for what we needed it for. I am a bit worried about the quality and durability. The doors seem to easily fall off the track.
MDF ClosetWalterFastener engineering is superb. My only concern is longevity. How long will the plastic fasteners and rollers last? Plastic keyhole joiners need to be all the way in and tapped with a hammer to correctly seat. Don't use in a wet location. MDF soaks up water like a sponge and deforms.

doors don't line up correctlyScotteasy to assemble (with 2 people). High quality materials. But even with adjustable screws, the doors do not align correctly and leave a space. Maybe our floors are just too warped. But we don't have that problem with our other furniture.

What is particleboard?
Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded.
