The salt/pepper shakers can also be used for other spices that you like to add to your food.
When you see through the glass that the contents are starting to run out, you simply unscrew the cap and refill.
The brown glass reduces the effect of daylight on the spices and makes them retain their flavour for longer.

Covered salt shaker, works fineLorinI have been using this for a week. It works fine, the salt flows well, and the holes are small enough that the rice, which I added to keep the salt loose, has not been flowing out, as well. I really wanted a glass body (like this set), not plastic, that is covered and, so, also good for travel to a cottage. Unfortunately, I will need to cover the lid for travel or everything might flow out, as the hinge is looser than I would like. But this is the shaker closest to our needs that we have seen. The old shaker, of about 30 years, is unfortunately a goner. Also, I would have preferred to purchase just the one shaker, not a set.

Pretty but just okayAllisonThe plastic toppers feel a little cheap and the salt pours a little too quickly. Pretty large size for table shakers. Like the brown glass though.

Functional DinaThese are easy to use. We love both options. Shaker for a little seasoning or free flowing if you need more. Glass is sanitary and easy to wash. Colour is lovely and these are very affordable.

Holes too large.JaniceI like them... but the holes, especially for a salt shaker... are too big. May be better suited to cinnamon sugar or just sugar. I like the colour. I like them for pepper. But not so much for salt. I am thinking of plugging 2 of the little holes. (?)
