ExcellentJonathanThis is the third time we have purchased Gullaberg chest of draws.
Great storage and well constructed.5
Well Designed and SturdyColinIt is well designed, looks nice and is very sturdy. It goes together quite quickly, but definitely need a 2nd person at times.5
Sturdy well constructed dresserJacquelineA very sturdy well constructed dresser
Attractive dresser nice grey colour4
Nice looking but not sure about the qualityDianaIt took us (2 people) approximately 5 hours to assemble. We have a set of orders Malm dressers and wanted the larger Gullaberg in white as a refreshed look.
The quality of the dresser has noticeably changed since Malm. Lots of plastic pegs and not much steel.
It’ does look nice but I think when we are ready to move we will leave it behind.
Delivery that wasn’t very good either. The day promised was on target until about 30 minutes before we were next our delivery was canceled for the Monday instead of Saturday. We had to find someone to be at home to receive our delivery on the Monday. We paid CAD $149.00 for the delivery
Not sure we will be buying any IKEA furniture again.3
SOLID DRAWER UNITGordonWell made unit. Took a lot longer to put together than anticipated but happy with dresser when done.5
Gullaberg dresserJo-AnneIt was a challenge to put together at times but once it was together love it. I like how it has a safety switch on the back to lock all the drawers5
Wobbly, damaged, uneven and poor quality.SarahI’ve been buying things at ikea for years, and this has to be—bar none, the most disappointing purchase. I needed a dresser for my baby’s room and with everything that I needed to buy I wanted to stay budget-friendly and get an ikea dresser. This is the second most expensive dresser that ikea sells and may be the worst quality item I’ve ever purchased. The screws do the drawer tracks strip for that some of the mmm you can’t even screw in all of the way, so on of the drawers don’t even function. Properly because of it. Pieces were damaged inside of the box. It’s wobbly and doesn’t line up perfectly in some areas. Instructions were also terrible and difficult to follow. I would return it but at 33 weeks pregnant I just sunk 7 hours into building this thing and would have to take the whole thing apart, which I don’t think I can do because of the poor quality screws to get sample of the pieces out. It also came in 3 boxes with so many pieces so it would be a huge hassle to return.1
Big and beautiful but all pieces don’t align perfectly HannaMy partner and I finished it in two nights (6-7h of work). You need a strong person to make sure that the parts are fitting together 100%. Even doing that, the outcome is a misalignment of drawers and wood parts in the front. Doesn’t look terrible but doesn’t look perfect. Basically is an expensive furniture that will not look like one!3
Beautiful piece of furnitureRichardFirst things first, I highly recommend assembling this dresser with a partner. In total, it took us just under 4 hours to build everything. There were minor confusions about which rails to put on the main pieces—other than that, the instructions were straightforward, and it’s imperative that you double check every step very carefully.
We managed to only break one plastic piece of four that holds the drawer together—it’s not a big deal as it still semi-locks into place, but we’ll still get a replacement piece the next time we visit IKEA again.
Overall I’m quite satisfied with the completed product (with the glass top). It’s a fantastic centrepiece to our nursery and the safety-locking mechanisms brings confidence that there won’t be any “climbing” accidents.
I was skeptical about the particleboard materials consisting of the majority of the dresser, but I’m actually impressed at the finished product.

Poor qualityKathleenExtremely hard to assemble with the given instructions. Top of dresser came with large scratch in it and two pieces are missing so I can't actually finish the assembly.3
Cheap junkAmandaAfter removing all the parts from the box and getting about a quarter of the way through the assembly, two main components had splits in the wood. Im not even going to try and inspect the rest of this garbage. Its being returned ASAP. Would NOT recommend.1
Nice sizeDee-AnneI really like the size of the drawers as they hold much more than standard dressers. They look very nice. Overall, very happy with my purchase. As a long time Ikea shopper, I have put many pieces of Ikea furniture together over the last 30 years. This time around, I found the instructions for Gullaberg not as clear as past instructions. For instance, I installed the metal support beams under the top drawers incorrectly. After studying this step very carefully, I had to guess which way they were to be installed and I guessed wrong. I had to disassemble the dresser and re-install them correctly. I would clarify the instructions for this step. My big disappointment is that the long piece that fits between the top drawers and the dresser top does not align correctly and so the wood edge is visible on one side and it doesn't look very nice. I tried really hard to align it, but I think one of the holes is mal-aligned.3
This is a very sturdy dresser well madeDianneI purchased this for my granddaughters nursery. She loves it and thinks it will work great for her new born baby. Lots of room in the drawers. The only thing that would make this a little better would be self closing drawers5
Cheaply MadeSamaraIt is cheaply made and annoying to put together. I bought it for my daughters room and it is already broken.2
Room dresserCassandraBig, large drawers, beautiful, great quality5
Great dresserTerriAssembled the dresser by myself. Found the directions easy to follow. I laid everything out. Looked at the materials. Went through the instructions first. All the little bolts and bits were in numbered bags. It takes a while to put it together, but I was able to do it. very happy with the end result.5
Unbelievably difficult to assemble RobinThe dresser looks fine once completed but OMG, I have NEVER assembled anything from IKEA or anywhere else that was so insanely frustrating to put together. The instructions are GARBAGE!! This took me 6 hours. Most of that spent staring at the “instructions” trying to figure out what’s next.
I kept looking around figuring I was on hidden camera and there was no way to assemble it and someone just wanted to see how long it took before I threw this thing out the window (not possible btw because you’ll need a forklift to move it). 3
Drop in quality, confusing instructionsTomasI have put together a lot of furniture from IKEA over the years and generally found it to be straightforward. Dressers, bed frames, shelves, etc. This is the worst item I have ever assembled. The instructions were not clear. The quality has dropped significantly from the Hemnes line. The drawers don't slide in and out smoothly. There's hardly any metal or wood to be found, all plastic fasteners and particle board. This also makes it extremely heavy compared to the Hemnes but feels flimsy at the same time. For the price that these are, I was expecting much better quality and components. There are also new plastic plugs for the back that were not clear how to use and didn't fit into the holes. I ended up breaking most of them trying to get them in. I would recommend having a mallet handy to get these in and move boards around that don't snap together neatly. Overall a frustrating assembly and disappointing quality.2

Solid and easy to put togetherMattThis dresser is solid and easy to assemble. No mess like others mentioned—just lots of cardboard to recycle, which is normal. It was well-packed and arrived in four boxes since I also ordered the glass top. When you open box #1, you get the instructions and all hardware, but you’ll quickly realize you need to open all three main boxes at once because some parts for the first steps are in box #3. Yes, the two metal rails you’re looking for are in the bottom of the last box, and the “U” channel faces up—you’re welcome! Once those are found, the rest is straightforward. Use the adjustable feet and level the dresser immediately and moving forward everything will sit flush. The glass top uses four L-brackets with rubber keeps to prevent sliding, and I recommend it to protect the surface. The dresser is laminated chipboard and has a slight wood smell. Unknown for how long as I have only had it for 3 days.
Only drawback is the cheap drawer slides. Ball bearings would have made it perfect.4
