Natural wood top requires maintenanceStevenI bought this cart for a friend who has a small kitchen, and it's a great size for what he needed, giving him a place for his blender and a little extra prep space. One thing that is a bit of a headache it that the top is actually natural, real wood, which is not common in Ikea furniture. I'm curious why Ikea decided to do this with a product that some might use to prepare food. It looks nice but natural wood can absorb stains and spills in a way that veneer doesn't, and it isn't as easy to clean as a veneer top. Also had to purchase some oil that is safe for cutting boards and have to moisturize the top occasionally so it doesn't dry out. Purchased some plastic cutting mats to put on top when doing food prep to reduce any spilling or staining on the wood. With only myself to put the cart together, it was challenging, as the sides kept falling before I could secure them. Having a second person would make it easier, but I did finally get it. With two people it would be quite easy.
Perfect in every way!LauraI too have a very small kitchen and this island fits perfectly in the only nook. Perfect height for preparation and holds occasionally used appliances like my food processor. As for ease of assembly I paid someone to do it and had to apply a felt pad to one leg to level it. Everyday I congratulate myself on this purchase.

Love this little island/cart.JoyceThis little island/cart is perfect for our kitchen. It is small enough to not be in the way, yet handy for holding items such as extra mugs, napkins, and the drawer is great for all my heat pads, oven mitts, etc. Love that it is easily moveable.
Great PurchaseAileenI got this unit to hold my microwave and free up more working counter space in my kitchen. It does a great job, fits nicely into a little nook near the wall, and has a simple clean style. I get lots of compliments on it and am so glad I purchased it.
