Modern and Stylish Shelf Unit but Chips Easily!BrittanyRecently purchased this shelf unit to use as an entryway table in my apartment. I love the design and appearance of the unit, however, my partner said it was difficult to assemble and the wood surfaces also chip very easily! I wish the wood sections were more durable, and then it would be perfect. I am storing extra shoes in the magnetic cabinets at the bottom, and have two bins in the middle shelf to store winter accessories and hats.
Looking for the single version of thisNancyI love this shelf! I find it sturdy and want to find another one of these in the single option 20w x 38 1/2 h. Does IKEA still have these in stock?
Too light, misaligned, and flimsy.IlanaIm shocked by the reviews for this product.
I felt that it was too light weight and needs to be screwed into the fall or it will most definitely tip over on my kids.
Misalignment on the doors, I have no clue how to adjust them.
The assembly took quite long, it’s not hard, but labeling parts might make it easier (I.e, a,b,c etc), especially since they are not identical, and the instructions are nuanced.
I haven’t used it yet, so I’m not sure how well the MDF will hold up.
Very sturdyFrancineExcellent unit for the price. The only thing is that the holes for the top decorative pieces are on the wrong side. Doesn’t really affect anything though.
Nice, bottom kind of flimsyJordonthe wood top is nice, thin but nice, the bottom however is a large sheet of very thin metal lattice, which feels pretty flimsy with out anything supporting it. this is fine for the sides and doors, where it doesn’t have to cover as big an area before it hits the frame / support, but it feels like it probably shouldn’t have been used over a space the size of the bottom. you can pop it up & down with your finger, which makes a cool sound but probably isn’t rly what you want. this is true of every product in this line i’ve purchased (3). still, i would rather thin metal & real wood over particle board and a slightly thicker bottom though i guess… it still holds things. it looks nice. i like it over all. this one’s pretty affordable for what it is.
Solid Piece with some assembly issuesHollyThe FJÄLLBO is a great storage piece. It's pleasantly designed and very solid. I like it immensely.
I only have two issues.
First, the hole for attaching the magnet on one of the doors was too small. Additionally, these holes were not threaded. As a result, it was very hard to add the magnet and that door does not really close correctly.
Secondly, the three dimensional elements of assembling the piece were confusing in the diagrams. It always looked like the middle portion was jutting out in the diagrams. Since there are only diagrams with no text, it took a while to comprehend the visual language for the middle portion.
Beyond these two issues, this has been an excellent piece.
Love the look of this shelfSawyerIt holds my tv and records! It looks fantastic in my apartment and has held up really well. I zip tied some metal grids I had from a different shelf into the sides where there was a gap so I could have more space to lean things. I love it so much that we're going to get a second one or maybe the lower table version of this shelf.
