Plates break too easilyMattBought 4 of the plates and two of them broke in half in about a month. They were not dropped either, just put down on the table and then broke right in half on two different occasions. Perhaps I got a bad batch, but I will not be buying replacements for these based on the quality.1

Hefty and look like stone.NinaAfter looking at dinnerplates for way to long to get an unusual/artistic set, we chose these light grey (more "almond" than grey) plates for their "zen" quality. These stoneware plates look and feel like stone. All foods look interesting on them, they're reasonablly priced, hefty and if one gets scratched or broken I can EASILY get more! PLEASE IKEA let your artists loose so they can create interesting, graphic or more colorful CONTEMPORARY plates. Most of your sets look way too traditional for my taste.5

Material

What are ceramics?

For thousands of years, humans have used ceramic objects for cooking and serving, and it’s easy to see why. Ceramics are heat-resistant and durable, and don’t react chemically when in contact with various foods. The base material is different types of clay that are formed into objects and oven-burned. At IKEA, we mostly use ceramics for plant pots, porcelain and sinks – and since it can be glazed to any colour and shine, the possibilities of styles and looks are endless.

FÄRGKLAR is inspired by food cultures around the world and works with everything from rice dishes and pastas to tacos and sushi. A bit like the kitchen’s chameleon with shapes and colours that match each other and what you already have at home. Hopefully you’ll feel that the tableware is warm, practical, soft and pleasant – much like your favourite sweater that always feels right."
