Very Stylish CabinetsJoeI was very pleased with these cabinets as accents for either side of our fireplace. We use it to display glass items and nick knacks and they look great! The shade of blue also works perfectly with our other accents and decor. Being Ikea, I had expected wooden items was all they sold, but these metal cabinets are sturdy, well made and relatively easy to assemble. Consider these for your next purchase.5

Limited UseAnonymous reviewerIt's nice looking, but the stated load/shelf limits this unit's usefulness a great deal. Twenty pounds is NOT a lot of weight and while I do believe Ikea has understated the tolerance to protect their collective heinies legally speaking I do wish there was an effort made to strengthen the shelves. I'm using it for limited edition books. The Billy with glass doors is cheap looking IMO and the better ones are too expensive. I will need to hack this myself by adding something underneath like a second glass shelf or plywood - either way a pain in the butt. Who said everyone's collectibles are light?! BTW - to the French person, below complaining about the misalignment of the doors, I had this problem and adjusting the height of the feet on the high-side remedied the situation nicely.4

Material

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
