Severely flawed junction points. DavidAs many others have said, the design of this cabinet is severely flawed. There is no reinforced anchor point for connecting the panels, it's just a rough 'hole' in very pliable particleboard. As such what happens to many happened to me, trying to maneuver them into place with 'just' one person will invariably cause a panel to slip...and boom, carve a large gash where you're supposed to secure them as the particleboard connecting point is so weak. Bizarre and ridiculous design, strongly avoid.1
Eket cabinetNaomiReally like this cabinet. It’s sturdy and holds a lot of stuff. My only complaint is the assembly itself. That was a nightmare, trying to get everything to line up. I would still recommend this product as it is a really good product but just be prepared for the assembly…it may take a while. :) 4
Horrible to put together GinnyThis was the worst piece of ikea furniture to put together. It’s IMPOSSIBLE. We finished and now one of my doors is crooked, and there’s a lump in the top from trying to get the pieces together. Nothing fits together the way it’s supposed to and now I am nervous I can’t return as it doesn’t look the way it’s supposed to. Save your money! 1
Do not waste your money or timeShelleyAbsolutely horrible. 1
Terrible Design HeatherWe were very disappointed with how difficult it was to assemble the backing to the cabinet. The instructions are hard to read and the cabinet was very unstable until we realized we missed a step. Almost returned it but our daughter really wanted it for her room.
Take your time installing the doors. They don’t line up but if you take your time in adjusting the tabs and the doors will be close to being lined up.
I should have listened to the other reviews before making this purchased. It took two of us way too long to construct this.1
So difficult to assembleTri-TamProbably the most basic, yet the ikea piece that took the most time to assemble. It did not make sense and pieces were so difficult to align. Do not recommend1
I got confused with InstructionsStephenThe way the instructions explain the install of the backboard and sides doesn’t seem to work for me. I couldn’t assemble it properly. Returned it.1
Worst design I ever saw.MaelleWorst design I ever saw. Very disappointed with this item. I buy Ikea furniture all the time, but I couldn’t assemble this one and had to return it. I don’t understand why ikea sells an item like this.1
Love itMichelleLove it5
PerfectAureaI didn’t give a 5 star just because I struggle a little bit assembling the back of it. I had to cut the board shorter in order to fit.4
the worst assemblyAudreyI write a review on IKEA for the first time. Worst assembly I've ever bought. Even the legs have to be drilled. I will ask IKEA for a refund for the first time. It's a very cumbersome and disappointing task.2

Updated reviewMarkSince my first review I've had a chance to assemble a 2nd one of these and this one went smoother after some lessons learned from the 1st one.
Some tips.. You should have an awl for marking the screw holes for the legs. You should have a drill with a Philips bit for attaching the legs. You should have a rubber mallet for pounding the sides together. Also I suggest a roll of duct tape to hold the back in place and to keep the sides together until you get the 4th side on.
The most important step... you need to identify the difference between the left and right side panels, one of the 2 sides has a deep groove and one has a shallow groove. The side with the deep groove MUST go on first, the one with the shallow groove goes on last.
When adding the doors make sure the pin with the spring goes at the top, the pin without the spring must go on the bottom.
Lastly whatever you do, the doors will not line up properly, there will be some misalignment3
Most poorly designed cabinet ever.MarkRun, run far away from this cabinet. I have been assembling Ikea furniture for over 20 years, I must have assembled at least 40 different book cases and shelving units.
This is hands down the biggest dumpster fire I have ever had to put together. I offered to give my wife the cash for it if I could take it out back and set it ablaze.
The problem with this cabinet stems from the way the 4 sides are attached to each other, using this assembly where you slide 3 pegs into 3 slots then pound it into position, while trying to hold the back on. The 4 sides meet at a 45 degree angle to each other.
The first 3 sides go together mostly trouble free, but then you try to slide the back in, and there is no easy way to get the 4th side on as it has to be millimeter perfect but the panels are not manufactured millimeter perfect.
Even after you get it assembled the back is still loose and the sides still seem to have some give. I had to duct tape the back to keep it from shifting.
Good Luck1
poorly cutJudithI found it impossible to assemble the bottom piece after sliding in the backboard. I returned one and received another in its place but that unit had the same problem.
It is poorly cut and the holes that are supposed to fit into the bottom board don't align.1

Big IKEA fan, but not of EketAnonymous reviewerI am a longtime IKEA fan. I’ve installed their kitchens, wardrobe systems, and have had (and have) loads of their furniture and have always been impressed with engineering for price point. The Eket is the first item in 30+ years of purchases that doesn’t live up to IKEA standards for me. The corner tabs and cutouts don’t quite line up for assembly and even with a massive amount of force and a rubber mallet, there was no way to get it to flush up. With pounding, one of the sides started to delaminate. In addition the system for inserting the doors simply didn’t work on one side - there was not enough clearance for the pin to insert at the top, no matter how much we tried (eventually we mangled the small plastic guide tab trying to force the door into place and also damaged the front surface of the cabinet when the tab failed). If I didn’t know it came in an IKEA package, I would not have guessed this was one of their products. It is quite literally going to the dump this afternoon.1
Good productMirianaGood product but the forts don’t always like up properly and there is no way to adjust them4
Very good element.BranimirVery good element.5
Nice just hard to assembleJenniferIt required a lot of force to assemble. Had to use a towel and a rubber mallet to get it to line up.4
