Book shelves KathyTurned out to a great piece in my living room. Fits perfectly. Quality product!
Difficult to assemble RickyAssemble design is bad, doesn’t like other ikea products, very difficult to assemble even with a mallet. It’s smaller than another line and less selection of insert.
Horrible productBrittniEveryone is raving over this shelf & it is junk.
I have 5 kallaxs & wish I went with it again. Putting it together is horrible, nothing really lines up. You have to put it together with a mallet. I than ordered the LABBSAL baskets to go with it that says they will fit & they DON’T fit. Now I’m out $200.
So hard to put together! WendyNow that it’s built, it meets our needs but given that it’s such a small item, it would be helpful if parts were marked or better yet, if the engineers at ikea figured out a better way to put it together.
We kept it but a piece broke during the build.
I’d buy it again if I needed something similar but would have ikea build it first.

Great for my office and houseKelleyI have this unit as a Montessori shelf for my toddlers and it great. I also have it at work as part of a large eket unit. I love how it looks and how easy it is to put together.
SatisfiedAmyThis was pretty easy to put together even with one person (manual suggests 2). I would suggest having a rubber mallet on hand as I found it impossible to click the pieces together by hand. Very cute once assembled.
Solid, slightly priceyAngelaRelatively easy to assemble. Looks good. Not quite as solid as Kallax shelves (and far more pricey!) but cleaner lines and shallower depth.

It’s ok.BrianaDorona boxes didn’t fit. Disappointed, if you didn’t need the storage boxes would work great in an office.
Not sturdy enough?AnonymousA little less than a year ago, I bought 6 of these (4 compartments units) along with 4 single cube unit. I placed them all side by side to create a long bookcase-buffet type thing. It looked great then, but not even one year in, the top part of every single one of the units started sagging in the middle. I don't know why it happened but I'm scared it's gonna get even worse with time. It does look pretty bad and really breaks the idea of a streamlined long bookcase...
Great storage!Anonymous reviewerFlexible storage. Just make sure you to follow the instructions! It won't work if you don't follow the steps.
Great storageClaraLove the wooden leg frame that you can get with the shelving unit.
have to be *super* careful putting this togetherAnonymous reviewerI like the way the boxes look - I have the dark blue version - but it can be *very* frustrating to put them together. It is *essential* to put the sides together in the right order, so that the back slides into piece number 1. The slot on piece number 1 is deeper, so it gives you room to add the fourth side. If you are sliding in a different direction (easy to do, because it looks intuitive), then you won't be able to get the last side on. Except for that, it's all pretty simple - but you do have to press very hard sometimes to get the pieces aligned all the way. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes not so much - and I assembled five boxes in all, so I got pretty good at it (once I figure out the slot direction question) and still had to lean on the pieces sometimes to get them completely flush.)
