“I was inspired by classic industrial furniture typically used in workshops during the 50’s, as well as Meccano, to create the design,“ Lina says. “The idea was to create these beautiful storage units that have double the weight carrying capacity of any other shelves we were making at the time.” Engineer Philip Nedergaard made sure that the design held true to the heavy-duty ambition. “We built some of what we call ‘worst-case scenarios’ by loading the shelves high with concrete bags to really test that the shelves could safely hold almost anything you would want to keep in a garage,“ he says.

Stop crying please, this thing works so good. SonerSorry, but, too many people here seem to have poor mechanical skills and yet buy Bror.
This is a metal sheet product. It’s not your conventional IKEA furniture, which you also complain about when you cannot put it together. This is meant for heavy use, potentially even for extreme professional workshop use (I would use it, it’s more than sturdy enough for most shops). As such, it’s different than most IKEA.
Putting it together is 15 minutes -IF and only IF you are able to follow instructions, and understand what you’re working with.
Don’t tighten everything right away, the manual says so too. Use a square and level you should own if you bought a Bror..
I mounted this on the wall, by itself, and still got it square enough that the doors align.
Sorry, I normally am nice but so many comments here are just inexperienced people thinking it’s not themselves who need to -and certainly can- get better but the product.
Cabinet’s fine, it’ll outlast the tools I chuck inside and me.
Do NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY...HanaeThis came as a combination with BROR shelving and it is the worst ikea item I have ever dealt with. Assembly pieces were not cut properly and didn't fit with the BROR cabinet. I called cx service to get pieces replaced, but no one, in store or over the phone, was able to find the pieces needed because they are not labeled at all. This is THE WORST ikea product. And 98% of my furniture is ikea. I do NOT recommend. I would give 0 if I could!
one doored cabinet Tinaleft door of cabinet was machined wrong and the riveted metal clips to hold the hinge is on the wrong side of the door so it can not be attached. The frame just did not line up that well and is not quite square.
May be easier to buy an assembled cabinet. Not the best......JessThis item is study and aesthetically pleasing however, there are a couple of things I'd flag to potential buyers.
1) You need a lot of patience to assemble this item. The pieces that require screwing are not 100% aligned with the corresponding pieces. This can be quite painful for those of you who are not as handy or have other tools to aid you
2) My cabinet arrived with pieces that were dented and not fixable. It's been 2 weeks since I reached out to Ikea to have a replacement part sent, but they have NOT been able to provide resolution or communicate back.
Options to send the item back are extremely painful as you are required repackage and disassemble. Painful esp if you don't own a car/cannot lift 40lb packages back to the store.
Note: the bottom of the cabinet also does not get screwed in. it is simply placed on the 4 ledges of the frame. In other words, you cannot hack this item to add other legs outside of the frame in the BROR line.
Bolts missingTraceyThe cabinet is great. The top bolts are not included to attach to the upright pieces. This was a huge pain cause we half way through building and had to go back to store. We checked instructions for all parts and they aren't on the material list. Once it was all put together it was great for the storage space it needed to go in.

Story
The strongest storage we’ve made so far
Does your garage sometimes feel like a lost civilization? Pyramids of paint cans grouped around the car, sports equipment you can’t remember even using and forgotten hobbies in boxes stacked high. IKEA product developer Lina Ringefelt wanted to help out. The outcome: the heavy-duty BROR storage system.
Lina and her team researched peoples’ garage needs and found that there’s an interest in everything from full-on hobby rooms, to a place to pot plants and work on cars, as well as storage for everything from heavy power tools to seasonal equipment. Many people also want lockable, closed and open storage that could hold very heavy loads.

The result is an adjustable series of shelving units with closed and open storage, including a cart that serves as a movable shelf and workstation. But perhaps the series biggest calling card is its combination of looks and function. BROR could definitely be used in the home too.

A real tough one
BROR storage system can withstand a lot. The widest and deepest shelves actually hold 285 lbs. and the smallest shelves can hold 154 lbs. This means that you can store both tires and heavy flower pots without problems. We know this since we tested the storage system by filling the shelves with concrete bags – all to ensure that they can safely hold almost anything you can imagine storing, regardless if the surroundings are tropically moist or dry and freezing cold.
