Not worth itClaireDespite looking absolutely gorgeous online, in person the unit is cheaply made. The backboard that lines the back of the unit is folded in half in the flat pack... once you unfold it and place it at the back of the unit there is a VERY visible white line from where the fold was. I can see this from all angles.2
Dust free bookcaseLindaI love these bookcases. I eyed them for several years, and when our original bookcases from IKEA were so bowed, we replaced them with these ones. I love the glass doors, as there is never any dust on my books and dvd’s. I know that they will last a long time as we had our original bookcases from ikea for 43 years!5
Perfect for a study or home officeStephanieI have a vast book collection. I have 3 book cases and I am pleased with their function and design. I found they were relatively easy to assemble. The doors took some finessing to make sure they were level and properly spaced. I like the customization options (I didn’t opt for these) although it’s nice to know that I can add pieces as time passes. They hold a fair amount of books.5

Beautiful and functionally perfectMelanieI loved the blue color of these shelving cabinets as they are in my living room. They were easy to put together and all predrilled holes and hardware matched up and fit perfectly. They are very tall and do require stabilization to the wall on top. I love these 2 shelving cabinets side by side and am completely happy with my purchase. I wish IKEA had a store in St John’s, Newfoundland but ordering online was acceptable and shipping time was also.5

Nice book case but could use some improvements TrinaNice looking book case. Just beware that when you put the doors on the case wants to tip forward so securing it to the wall is necessary. Also the instructions say to anchor it to the wall but they don’t include drywall anchors or screws for that. Would be helpful if they came with that. 4

Yarn Containment System TracyI probably should have given this fewer stars because it’s not perfect. It’s not big enough! I guess I’ll just have to knit more or buy another Billy. I definitely wanted the glass doors. I need to be able to see all the beautiful colours. Bookcase is great. I like the colour (blue). 4
Beautiful Cabinet in a classic colourDiannaEasy to put together and attach to wall. The lower back of cabinet is cut to go over floor trim. The colour is perfect, a classic dark blue that really compliments a room. Only wish I’d gotten this sooner to enjoy longer.5

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
