Tempered glass is 4-5 times stronger and more resistant to breaking than regular glass. If it breaks, it shatters into many granular pieces to reduce the risk of injury.

Lovely Glass Top for Besta cabinetRachaelWe bought this to put on top of our Besta cabinet. It adds a little sophistication and prevents scratches on the cabinet. It was very easy to add to the cabinet and dies not slip or move at all. Has not scratched yet. Very affordable way to change up a plain cabinet and replace if needed.5

A must have to create a clean unique lookAnonymousWe recently renovated our Family room and were looking for a unit to house all the items such as cable box, converters, cd player, Apple TV unit etc. neatly and uncluttered. we looked at so many places both online and at retail outlets and couldn't find one that we felt was right for us. We went to Ikea and looked at the Besta units and fell in love. We basically custom built the unit to fit our needs and look and it looks awesome. We purchased the white unit with the clear shaker doors, square feet and black glass top. The black glass top is sticking on top of the white cabinet. Not only does it look great, its easy to keep clean and prevents the unit from getting scratched. The quality of the glass is good and it has a good weight to it.5

Material

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
