Different wall materials require different types of fasteners. Use fasteners suitable for the walls in your home.

If you choose the soft closing function for your BESTÅ, we recommend complementing the fronts with knobs/handles to make the drawers/cabinets more convenient to open.

Due to the design of HANVIKEN, knobs/handles can only be mounted in the outer frame of the door/drawer front, not in the center part.

Terribly wobbly. Very disappointed.AlisonThis is so wobbly! We should have read the reviews before purchasing. Why did Ikea switch to plastic fasteners??? They won't tighten enough to hold the pieces in place firmly. I talked to customer service last week, and they assured me that they would send metal fasteners so that we could replace the plastic ones and tighten up the unit. They arrived today and are the same plastic ones that came with it in the first place. Very poor customer service, and very wobbly unit. What happened, Ikea? My husband wants to return it, but it's not that easy to return. Do you stand behind your product, Ikea? Please send us METAL FASTENERS! I would give this cabinet a good review if it was tightened up and not wobbly! 2
Read before purchasingAmandaHej! You get what you pay for. The backing is essentially fortified cardboard, some of the essential hardware is plastic instead of metal, and the major pieces aren't labelled anymore. I bought Ikea furniture two years ago and it wasn't this sad state of affairs. Choose wisely my friends. It'll look fine, but don't dare move it once assembled.2

Broken hingeJosephineBroken hinge that causes the door to not completely close. We’ve put many ikea furnishings together with no problem in the past. It also topples forward when both doors are open- so not kid friendly. There is an option to anchor it to the wall but it’s not applicable if your home has base trimming. We’re looking into returning it. 1

Looks great but wobblyMichelleThe frame is not stable - it wobbles left and right. After attaching the doors, the whole unit fell forward. After righting the unit, each time only one door is opened, the entire frame shifts therefore doors can never be aligned. As others noted, instructions are poor and hardware easily strips. I contacted IKEA and was offered a new frame but it is just as poorly designed. I would not recommend this product to anyone.1
Wobbly and bad qualityKellyI followed the instructions and the item is still extremely wobbly. This is a poorly made piece of furniture. Ikea has some great pieces that are simple however it makes it such. headache spending time putting it together and then it being a horrible piece. Do not buy!1

Material

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fibreboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
