This resulted in several interesting insights about the human body – for example that the sit bones of all humans are actually very similar. "It’s true, regardless if someone is 1.85 metres tall or much shorter. So the bowl-shaped bottom of the seat was given a geometry that fits 99% of the world's population.”

The upholstery of the chair consists of straight polyester fibres with small gaps between them – providing comfy elasticity and better ventilation so you enjoy a pleasant temperature when sitting.
The seat's bowl-shaped bottom is adapted for your sit bones and those of most of the world's population. And with an innovative technique, the seat's padding is shaped to maximize your comfort.
The backrest has a built-in lumbar support and the angle between the seat and the backrest is optimally adapted to make it comfortable for you to sit a little longer at the dining table.
The hardwearing cover of cotton and polyester is yarn dyed to create an attractive two-tone effect.

Too Early for Full AssessmentGenePurchased 3 chairs about 1-1/2 weeks ago so its too early to fully assess its value, especially the "wearability" of the fabric (stain resistance, removal of stain by washing, stretch-shrink-fading as a result of washing, etc. Assembly was easy; and a tool to assemble was included in the parts. Padding for the leg bottoms should have been included to prevent/reduce floor - leg damage.

I knew they were a different size but I am placing them at the heads of the table so it will work. They pale in comparison. The seat is narrow and the seat pan is short. They are not nearly as comfortable. Still a good chair, sturdy and nice.

Not the same chair as it used to beRobertWe bought these chairs online without visiting a store, thinking they were the same as the ones we bought over a decade ago. They are not. They've been redesigned, are narrower, and you sit on a firm seat and much higher than before. The old chair covers will not fit these either.
For the money, they seem ok and should hold up longer than the previous version which had 'lawn-chair' webbing under the seat padding. This new model has a sturdy metal platform under the firm seat 'cushion'. Felt pads under the feet are a must to minimize noise on a wood floor.

I love these chairs!JoanneWe purchased 8 to go with our new Mockelby table. They are very sturdy and have a comfortably wide seat base and the back is high and provides plenty of support. Very easy to assemble, only 4 screws per chair. I was a bit leery as to how they would hold up, but there is no wiggle to them at all! We purchased 6 light grey and 2 dark grey for the ends to compliment each other. The covers are easily removable and can be purchased separately if they need to be replaced or if you want a color change. Very convenient! They definitely add a touch of class to the decor.

Long dinners just got more comfortable
BERGMUND chair was created so that you can sit longer while enjoying nice dinners – without your legs starting to feel stiff or your back aching. To succeed, we dove into new research on the human body, which led to us developing a new technique to get a really comfortable seat.
Sitting may not seem like an active movement, but it actually involves everything from the body's bones and muscles to tendons, cartilage and joints. "So that you sit comfortably for longer, it’s important that the body enjoys the right support in the right place", explains material developer Anders Bergner.

Innovation paves a way for more comfort
The polyester in the seat’s padding and backrest comprises of small vertical fibres which provide better elasticity compared to fibres which are more entangled. Anders and his team then developed an innovative technique to further increase the seating comfort by shaping the seat’s padding. “It compares to making a waffle. The polyester fibres are fed into a special tool where the correct shape fixes in place.” After several years of development, Anders hopes that BERGMUND helps people both enjoy nice seating comfort and even better moments together. "When everyone around the table is sitting comfortably, they can relax and focus more on each other."
