Axstad pantryShelleyWe very much like our Axstad cupboards. We have done our kitchen in these cupboards and this new cupboard is for our closet. Just waiting for the drawers to arrive.5
My son-in-law installed the cabinetsSharonMy son-in-law installed the cabinets for us. He found the instructions to be great. Great value and they look amazing. Exactly what we wanted. I would recommend them to everyone. With covid though it did take a little longer to get a few of the cabinets but we weren't in a great hurry. Having 3 Ikeas within an hour and a half from our house, we were able to go get missing cabinets from different stores by using on line ordering and curbside pickup.5
Worth the wait?SheriWhile these are beautiful doors, and while we use IKEA for projects, the wait time is ridiculous. There seems to be little to no communication regarding this. It's worth the price to do custom to ensure our projects are getting completed.5

BLUE AkstadSarahI love the Blue colour ! Very matte, dark midnight blue with grey in it. Unusual, and great colour to make a sophisticated kitchen. Care is required to handle the blue matte finish carefully and then to wash after installation, as the matte surface shows fingerprints as easily as does stainless. Because of this I would not use it in a house with small children (messy fingers) or dogs (noseprints on the dog food cupboard?). Classic colour and a welcome change from the ubiquitous grey or shiny high-gloss white.5
Looks good, hard to cleanWhiffin4We live the look of our new kitchen however the grey shows everything. Anywhere you contact the cupboard or drawer whether your hands are dirty or not, just the oils in your skin leave marks that are impossible to completely get out. I have tried everything to clean them. The ones located next to the stove look awful as stuff splatters from cooking never to come clean again.3
Off-whiteTired of photoshopPlease be aware, Axstad is off-white. The external cupboards are white and are brighter than these doors. The colour in the pictures do not reflect what we have received. I don't want anyone else to be disappointed, so please be careful.3
Excellent qualityJRempelThese doors look so high end, one of the more expensive looking products from Ikea. They were worth the wait.5
Part of our pantryBella18Bought this with other pieces for our pantry5
Great qualityCatwilkWe installed a new kitchen recently and are amazed at the quality. Very sturdy5
Worth the waitRamonaIBHad to wait a few weeks for the doors to be in stock but once we received them, we feel in love.5
Good ultra white colourFairleapAxstad is a clean, modern looking door for cabinets. I was glad to see the white was an actual white and not a yellow/white as I've seen in other cabinets. I am enjoying the look of these doors in my kitchen.4

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in a responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is fibreboard?

Fibreboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fibreboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are – and this determines what we use them for. So regardless if it’s a bed, a wardrobe or your new bathroom cabinet, the leftover wooden fibre becomes a resource instead of going to waste.
