Worked for 5 minutesAnonymous reviewerThe unit worked when initially installed. The 2nd time I used it, there was no light or fan. My voltage detector was silent at one fuse.There is no repair person in our area who will fix it. Ikea will accept it back, but I have to take a ferry to return it at a minimum of $200 return trip. I am very disappointed and really glad this was the only appliance I bought at ikea. 1

Didn't even last 6 monthsGardinerWe purchased this range hood as part of a full kitchen renovation. It exhausted air properly at first but now just kind of blows the air/steam around and does not exhaust it out. I contacted customer support and the only option is to bring it in, however, I live in a city with no Ikea and the closest store is 15 hours by road so this is not really practical. No other options for an exchange were offered. Needless to say I am very disappointed. for $600 you would think an item would last longer than 6 months.1

Sound levels

Sound levels for appliances are measured in decibels (dBs). Our extractor hoods have been tested in speed 3 to determine the dB level. The sound level of your extractor hood is affected by: • Type of installation. Exhaust-mode or recirculation-mode. • Length and diameter of the exhaust pipe between extractor and exhaust vent. The longer it is and the smaller the diameter, the louder it gets. • 90° bends. The more bends you have in the exhaust pipe, the greater the sound.

Quality

Sensitive to noise or have an open-plan home?

For extractor hoods, a noise level below 60 dB is considered low – roughly equivalent to a normal conversation between two people. We measure the noise level of our hoods at max speed, making it easier to compare different models. Note that sound levels decrease at lower speeds, and recirculating hoods are typically louder than those vented outdoors. Noise may also increase if the ducting is long or has several bends, as the air has to work harder to pass through the system.
