Item functions as a lamp (i.e. when wired and fitted with a lightbulb it will light up) but the silver cone between the ceiling and lamp is held in place with a friction based mechanism that fails instantly. I installed it 15 mins ago and have already pushed the cone back up to the ceiling 4 times.
Without modification to the restraining mechanism on the cone there is no way this product will function as a decorative lamp.
This should have never passed a serious product review.1
Great Hanging LightsBebeA great alternative to pedestal lights. The globe is a bit of a pain to put on and take of to change the light bulb (since it's not a screw in fixture). Otherwise it gives out a lot of light but isn't blinding.4

That's why I don't understand how that product has made it all the way to the consumer. You wonder who approved that product to begin with. It's the weakest item they are selling. The base that needs to stand firmly to the ceiling does not hold in place, and therefore slides down. Not mechanism to lock it, like most other ceiling products they sale. It's utter nonsense that Ikea would still have that product on the floor, even after all the comments and complaints. Unfortunately, I lost my receipt after buying 3 of these lamps. Shame on me. But shame on you if you buy it and read all these reviews.1

Pendant lampAnonymous reviewerThe silver cone cover that slides around the electrical part of the fixture kept slipping down the base, so I had to buy a new pendant lamp. Sadly this one is in a box in my garage. Look great hung though.2
