Good to know

Even though laminate is a durable material you should never place hot pots or pans directly on the countertop without a trivet or pot stand.

Not suitable for use in damp rooms.

Care

Wipe clean with a soft cloth dampened with water and a mild dish detergent or soap, if necessary.

Wipe dry with a clean cloth.

Do not place a toaster, coffee maker, kettle or other kitchen appliances that emit heat directly over a seam between two countertops because the heat can damage the seam.

Always use a chopping board, never cut directly on the countertop with a knife. Never pull an object with rough or ragged edges across the countertop as it can scratch the surface.

To prevent permanent stains on the countertop, wipe clean spills or messes immediately with a soft cloth dampened in water and a mild washing-up detergent or soap.

Safety and compliance

Supporting legs are required when an overhang exceeds 10". The maximum distance between these legs should not be more than 32".

Big DisappointmentGillianWe've purchased IKEA kitchens and countertops before but this is a huge disappointment. There were marks which appeared on the countertops after installation which couldn't be seen before . They looked like clamps possibly from the manufacturing process. I hoped they would clean off. We couldn't stop as we needed countertops installed. They are inpossible to clean off and the countertops themselves are impossible to clean due to the texture. Even after cleaning there are marks all over them. Don't get any oil on them because that doesn't come off with cleaning. The edging strips are terrible because they are very thisk and very tough. Can't be trimmed with a laminate trimmer and are so tough they are hard to trim with a file as per instructions. These are a huge waste of money and effort. I should have used the old countertops.1
Why isn’t the edgebanding iron-on anymore?MagsCountertop is good and all but the extra edge provided does NOT come with adhesive anymore, very tiny print in the instructions say you have to provide your own and doesn’t even specify the type needed. Very inconvenient and clearly a cost cutting measure at the expense and trouble of the end user.3

Marks Appear After CleaningVeroniqueI purchased three panels, and all of them had defects. The edge bands were placed directly on the black surface (finished side) inside the box, which left visible marks. These marks appear when the countertop is cleaned with water, then disappear once dry. It would have been better if the bands were placed face down in the packaging, so the marks would end up on the unfinished side (under the countertop). Additionally, the top and bottom of each panel show a one-inch-wide line across the entire width, likely caused during the factory cutting process. These marks also become visible after cleaning and affect the appearance of the finished side. I chose the black color, but I preferred the previous Ekbacken model, which had a wood grain effect that looked more refined.2
WAITINGMichaelAnd waiting and waiting with an incomplete kitchen. Its been months. Still waiting for a bunch of pieces. Hey IKEA! How longs do I need to live with an incomplete kitchen? This is unacceptable and I cannot recommend anyone shop with IKEA when you need your home back in functional condition. Very disappointed.1

As another review stated it does feels scratchy and it stains/scratches easily. We will be purchasing else where for better quality.1

If I could give it ZERO stars I would! AshleyPurchased 3 of these for our kitchen and they are VERY textured. They do not clean well at all. Water drops leave marks. Anything with colour leaves stains. It’s not shiny and easy to clean as they claim. It feels & looks like matte paper. With home delivery it costs us $600 for 3 pieces. Completely wasted money. DO NOT recommend! 1

It is difficult to cutClarkeIt is difficult to cut and make a clean edge, as is the case with all laminate countertops. Would like to see it offered in larger sizes, I currently have a 36 x 96 live edge island because I couldn’t get this in that size. Generally happy with it, but wouldn’t buy another one unless budget constrained.3

very disappointingTheresaObviously colour isn't a guarantee when shopping online, but the pattern is pale, muddy, with almost a greenish hue. No where near as rich or warm brown as in the pictures. The surface is practically matte, and it scratched while being installed when a cordless drill was set down in it. Not durable at all. I didn't expect much at this price point, but this is NOT the quality I expected from Ikea. Spend a bit more and get real Formica. This is NOT your grannies laminate countertop, it's terrible, and I seriously regret not sucking it up and getting the real wood, even if that isn't solid anymore.2

This was prefect for the desktop. I took a hack from Pinterest and created my space. I love my space!!! I love IKEA!!! Never disappointed. Next project will be my cutting table for sewing room.

This countertop looks very lovely in my kitchen. I will comment that it’s a little harder to do cut outs for your sink, but straight cuts were very easy.
