Can I get a VAT refund as a diplomat or if I work for an embassy?

Yes, you can reclaim your VAT on IKEA purchases from €125 per month through an authorized service provider, if you work for a diplomatic mission or embassy.

When are you eligible?

You can reclaim your VAT if:
  • You're a diplomat
  • You work for a embassy, consulate or diplomatic mission
  • Your monthly purchases amount to at least €125 excluding VAT
  • you can use a Approved service provider to have your request processed
👉 Without an approved intermediary, you cannot reclaim VAT.

How does it work when buying in store?

  1. You make your purchase in an IKEA Store
After your purchase, you make invoice yourself on IKEA.be. You will receive it immediately by e-mail.

2. You send your invoice to your service provider

Your authorized service provider:
  • makes it Required E-certificate
  • sends you file forwarded to IKEA
  • then takes care of the VAT refund


What if you buy online through IKEA.be?

Then you will automatically receive your invoice by e-mail. Just like with a physical purchase, you send this invoice To your service provider, the de fully arranges VAT handling.

Are you not yet affiliated with a service provider?

For VAT refunds to diplomats, you are obliged to work with a Authorized Company.
