2x units both squeaky ThomasWe purchased one and it wasn't cheap. When we used it it squeaked when starting up and at low settings. We had it replaced under warranty as it had poor bearings. The replacement process was frustrating as we arranged to be home twice but IKEA messed up the dates and internal communication. The second unit we replaced it with also squeaks but it's intermittent and worse in cold weather.2
Fantastic SarahGreat light, love the 3 speed fan It is almost invisible under the cupboard5
Powerful and quietBryanOperationally is excellent , fits perfectly into existing FAKTUM cabinet, screen and filters easy to fit and clean. HOWEVER , the first box I took home did not have the plastic bag of mounting screws and instructions so had to come back to store and swap boxes!4
Makes a squeaky noisePaigeWould have been happy with this product if it didn't make a loud squeaking noise every time we turned it on2
Very quiet and efficient Anonymous reviewerSlimline looking and efficient 5
Good for cleaning & help with air circulation SharonHope it can has hub to hub auto function for it to turn on & off automatically when the cooktop is on…4
60cm UnderverkAnonymous reviewerGood light, extraction acceptable but very noisy regardless of fan setting. Will replace with a quieter unit as soon as I can afford to.2
Quiet and efficientAnonymous reviewerEasy for a DIYer to fit. Quiet extractor fan, perfect for our small kitchen.5
Powerful rangehoodAngSmall yet very powerful. The only thing needs attention is to install the door hinge first on the cabinet before installing the actual rangehood. 5
Good extraction unitGregLooks good and woks well5
Underverk Extractor UnitAnonymous reviewerWe purchased the Underverk extractor unit as part of our kitchen makeover. The unit is of stainless steel construction and was easy to install into the METOD cabinet. It can be vented externally or it will use two carbon filtration pads that lock into the extractor unit. We are currently using these filtration pads until we can finish the outside ventilation. The unit has built in lighting which is more than enough to provide lighting for cooking. The three setting fan unit is extremely powerful, however when using the carbon ventilation pads, the cabinet door is pushed open when the fan is on second or third speed. If vented externally, this wouldn’t be a problem. A good purchase indeed.5
Works well. The lower settingsMaryWorks well. The lower settings are nice and quiet. Good to be able to use just the light. 4 stars not 5 only becuase the push button switch is a bit fiddly, and I wonder how well it will last. Also, my kitchen installers (not Ikea people but experienced) set it wrongly the first time (possibly through not reading instructions?!). There was a ledge around the rangehood below the base of the cupboard, instead of the lip sitting flush with the bottom of the cabinet. Luckily a friend picked this up & the rangehood was reset in the cabinet before the kitchen was complete.4
Seamless and quietJamieLoved this in the new kitchen. Tan the 110 exhaust tubing outside and it’s very quiet. Remember you need to buy the charcoal filter as well and any lighting store had ducting kits and vents. Easy to install into your cabinetry even if it’s already on the wall5
Nice rangehoodAdsonWorks well, clean design, practical and easy to use.5
Exhaust fanDonnaApart from waiting almost a year for it, I am very happy with the product. It sits under my cupboard perfectly.4
Looks great easy to clean.RyanI like the device is suits the decor and easy to fix and clean the charcoal filters. The stainless steel filter is neat. The fan noise is excessive. If this was half the noise I can watch my tv while cooking.3
Seamless modern design with ingenious featuresJeremyBest hood I have ever come across. Fits in completely seamlessly, push in / out control button is great so you aren't covered in grease every time you touch it. Doesn't need that old pull out hood, also great.5
unit works well. doors aPhilunit works well. doors a little difficult to adjust after installation.5
Best extractor hood everCeciliaWe purchased this extractor hood in August as part of the appliance package for our kitchen reno. The primary feature that attracted me was that the hood could be externally vented, which we've had done. It works really well, much better than a recirculating extractor hood5

Quality

Sensitive to noise or have an open-plan home?

For extractor hoods, a noise level below 60 dB is considered low – roughly equivalent to a normal conversation between two people. We measure the noise level of our hoods at max speed, making it easier to compare different models. Note that sound levels decrease at lower speeds, and recirculating hoods are typically louder than those vented outdoors. Noise may also increase if the ducting is long or has several bends, as the air has to work harder to pass through the system.

Function solution

Sound levels

Sound levels for appliances are measured in decibels (dBs). Our extractor hoods have been tested in speed 3 to determine the dB level. The sound level of your extractor hood is affected by: • Type of installation. Exhaust-mode or recirculation-mode. • Length and diameter of the exhaust pipe between extractor and exhaust vent. The longer it is and the smaller the diameter, the louder it gets. • 90° bends. The more bends you have in the exhaust pipe, the greater the sound.
