Flimsy design but functional PhilipAnnoyingly functional, but poor quality and should be sold with glass containers to fit the funnel/filter. The filter works but requires more cleaning time. Hopefully my drain doesn’t become clogged with coffee grounds. Maybe paper is better?3
Coffee filter AngelMine sadly doesn't contain the filter . I assume it would be great otherwise. I've used it as a funnel so it's not wasted but it's very unbalanced. I assume it's more solid when placed over a cup . 2
Spout too big for bottle mouthKyleI really wanted this to filter gingerbug and teas into pop-top glass bottles. Unfortunately the funnel does not fit in a bottle opening and causes spills. Approx 19.1mm OD and bottle opening is approx 18mm ID. If it could be designed to fit it would be perfect for jar fermentation with the plate as a lid.3
Makes good coffeeCharlesIt works great. It's a shame Ikea doesn't sell a small gooseneck kettle to help with the slower pouring of hot water5
Not just a coffee filterClareI've been looking for one of these type of coffee filters for over six months, but not for coffee, but for filtering my mixology spirits. I still add a filter paper for a clearer filter, but oh so happy with it!4
Works well.RoseWorks well.5
Överst- more like Yö-verst!PeterI love this bad boy! So quick and convenient and cleanup is a breeze. I compost my coffee granules and the Överst makes it easy to bin them.5
Awesome pour overChristopherThis makes an awesome pour over coffee. The coffee is thicker and is does allow some of the really fine sedament pass through but if you use it on a huge then pour from the jug you can leave the sedament at the bottom. For the price and the versatility of what this thing can do if you wanted to use it for straining oil I think it's very worthwhile to buy and also for me to recommend to you.5
Has changed my Coffee experience.JoEasy to use and clean. I don't like instant coffee and more.5
I use it as aFayazI use it as a cooking oil filter5
GreatSamreenI am using it to clean my used oil and trust me it’s awesome, easy to use and wash 👍4
Brewing coffeeMarkI'm actually using this for straining cooking oil because the cone and being able to strain is perfect for this.5
Nice construction & useful, mesh holes are a little too largeNimueI love the stainless steel construction and utility - it feels like it will last a lifetime and as others have noted, this can be used for multiple purposes beyond coffee (e.g. straining cooking oil). I do find that coffee grains get through the mesh - I'll try some other grinds, but the medium Fair Trade grind I usually buy gets through quite a bit. I have addressed this by using an organic cotton bought-for-purpose handkerchief between the mesh and the metal and double straining my coffee, which works well. I use this in the office and when camping.4
FunnelEuniceThis is amazing, no more spillages wish I’d bought 2 of these5
Microfine sieveJaneBought this to sieve for bottling and canning.5
OMG! I no longer needJosephineOMG! I no longer need to use paper towel as a sieve when straining oil that I used to fry!5
Great echofriedly reusable filter. EasyAmandaGreat echofriedly reusable filter. Easy to clean and nice small holes for fine ground coffee beans. Saves me money on paper filters.5
I have not used thisJulieI have not used this product as yet but its exactly what I have been after to filter the lemon skins for Limoncello.5

ÖVERST 3-piece metal filter coffee set, stainless steel

A better everyday one cup at a time

Have you had coffee or tea today? Statistically, you most likely have. In fact, these hot brews are the most consumed beverages in the world next after water. They’re a part of life that can give a silver lining to any moment. That’s why we decided to update our selection of products to make that perfect cup – from the tea infuser and the kettle to the milk frother.

Malin Ljungström, who was involved in developing the range, shares her insights. “To many, the smell of coffee and tea means well-being and a homey feeling. Since we want to improve people’s everyday, we’re offering products that make it possible for more to experience more feelgood moments at home.”

Developing things that make a difference

Malin and her colleagues dug deep into coffee and tea cultures to find out what tools people feel they can’t live without. They talked to specialists and investigated living, eating and drinking habits. “We wanted to develop items that make a difference, so we’ve focused on a few, but carefully selected products,” she states. The team cooperated with IKEA Test Lab in Älmhult, Sweden. It’s an IKEA version of a James Bond lab where prototypes are inspected and evaluated. “A couple of the things we checked were that the thermoses can keep fluids really warm for a long time. And that the glass mugs and glass pots are durable and comfortable, even though they look and feel light and airy,” says Malin.

For all tastes and different wallets

No matter how you enjoy your cup, you’ll find the things that put an extra flavour to your drink in the range. Another good thing is that there’s something for all wallets. “It’s one of our contributions to a better life at home. A way to improve people’s everyday one cup at a time,” concludes Malin.

What is stainless steel?

Stainless steel is found in everything from building structures and cars to sinks and knives. It’s easy to see why it has so many uses. Stainless steel is hard and durable and has good resistance to corrosion – namely rust. It generally has a low nickel content, and for IKEA products we mainly use stainless steel that’s nickel-free. Like many other metals, it can be recycled again and again to become new, hardwearing things – without losing its valuable properties.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

"We`ve always been interested in coffee and tea and we got to be really nerdy during this assignment. We wanted to make generous, functional and true products that focus on the drink. A kitchen full of gadgets doesn`t make it easier to get the right taste- instead we focused on a few things with really good quality. With these products you can make the perfect cup- and enjoy good coffee and tea whenever you like"
