Care

Wipe clean with a cloth dampened in a mild cleaner.

Making lots of squeaky noisesSoon WeiThis is only been less than 6 months and is already making lots of squeaky noise throughout the night with minimal movement. This has really impacted out sleep.1
Malm Ottoman Bed - great value for money, very comfortable. Colette At first I wasn’t keen on the half length slats, I was used to the full length ones. But I’m totally converted now. The advantage of the half length slats is that you don’t feel your partner’s movement through the night. It’s like 2 separate beds joined in the middle. Our mattress is a bonnell spring, & I felt every bump through the night on our old ensemble bed base. It was like sleeping on a trampoline. Not so with this one. My husband & I have been enjoying quality sleep on this bed. We love it. And the storage is awesome. As to assembly/installation, bear in mind you are building a bed so it will take time. But the instructions are brilliant. Just make sure you look at them properly & carefully. Great value for money. We’ve been sleeping on this for about 4 months now. My husband is a big guy. And so far it’s still standing. Since our mattress was not from ikea I was careful to ensure it would fit. Thankfully it does, though a little snug. But that’s not an issue. 5

Useful storage, 2.5 yrs laterJillianI bought this bed in Queen size 2.5 years ago as I needed extra storage in my new place. I'm 55, and I was able to easily put this bed together by myself, needing only an extra pair of hands on a couple of things for safety. I agree with other reviews that the strap used for releasing the pin lock to lift the bed would be better as a loop. Some strength is required to release that lock on occasion. A little WD40 from time to time helps that. If there was one improvement I would make, it would be to put some little wheels on the bottom so if you wanted to move the bed around in the room it would be easier. Of course if you DO want to move this bed, it requires taking out all the stuff from under it, removing the mattress to make it as light as possible and even then it's a chore. I think if I had to move rooms, you'd have to disassemble. Overall I am happy with this bed 2.5 years after purchase. 4

Poor Quality AliciaReally not impressed with this product, we have only had our bed for 2.5 years and we are going to have to replace it already, the supports and other structural pieces have snapped, lifting the bed is a now a two person job, you can’t let go of it or it will fall on you and I can no longer push it down only my husband can as you need quite a bit of force to get it back down. Really not happy with the product a huge waste of money now that it needs replacing!!!1

This is a really sturdy (and heavy bed). It feels much more solid than other Ikea beds. The bed platform lifts to give you a tremendous amount of storage. It took a while to put together, but is well worth it. It is looks nice once put together.

Material

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fibreboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
