Very classy!SuzanneI’d already purchased some of these shelves for my home office and decided to purchase more for another room after checking the other option of a white shelf. The glass looks so much nicer, yes it’s a bit fiddly to drill the holes but a template is supplied, so not too bad. The white option has wrap-around sides and back, similar to the cupboard door option but these glass shelves are just the shelves and in my opinion look much better.

Good enough for the priceMattThe glass shelf is good if that's the style you want, I have no idea why IKEA Australia doesn't sell the white centre dividers for Kallax that they do in US/EU though (204.237.20)? Why you sell diagonal inserts over horizontal/vertical ones is beyond me... I've settled for the glass but it's not my first choice and don't want to pull the whole unit apart to start drilling and doweling my own shelf dividers in place especially with how flimsy it feels. If glass is what you want though, it's a sturdy solution

Looks great, but not the easiest installationDianaI purchased 2 sets when Ikea was having the Kallax sale, so got a great price for these. I had initially thought I would be using, at least, 2 shelves in one of my Kallax cubbies. But, my storage needs ended up altering it to a single shelf in a single cubby. The guides were good & luckily I had an awl that made initiating the screw holes WAY easier - I think I would have had a lot more trouble without it. I also had a "helper" accidentally unscrew all of the rubber shelf stopper completely & misplace them for a while. So, these turned out to be far more of an adventure than I had expected. But, the shelf is installed and I have leftover shelves for when I am ready to add to or replace with more Kallax units.
Bad packagingShaneThe shelves themselves are good and do the job BUT the stickers on the glass are a nightmare to get off and the packaging materials leave a residue that is also had to clean
Great addition to Kallax unitsBecincluded in the package is a piece of cardboard that helps you mark for two shelves per one square, or like I did, one glass shelf per one square.
There was a sticker on one shelf, but a bit of turpentine gets it right off.
The shelves are essentially clipped securely into place and cannot be knocked loose.
They look good on their own, or you can liven them up like I did with some lights.
Also my Dad used a smaller drill tip (than the screw that holds the shelf) to make an initial hole in the kallax unit to make it easier to screw the clips in. Hope this helps and enjoy your new shelves :)

15 minutes to assemble, 1 hour to scrape off the cheap stickersDanielThe shelves look nice enough. Installation can be a bit tricky as you need to drill the screws into your Kallax shelf by hand with a screwdriver.
The really annoying thing though are the cheap and poor-quality stickers that fall apart when trying to take them off, requiring an eternity or scrapping to remove them. Why does IKEA feel the need to save $0.0000001 per sticker by using so bad ones?!?

What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
