Predrilled holes don't line upim the jointsGinaPredrilled holes where the dowels go don't line up, so it cannot be assembled without redrilling the holes. I assume this is a quality control issue. Joints are very tight and need to be hammered in. This is definitely not as easy as it looks in the video.
Sturdy adjustable shelvingKarenWe've had this shelving for years and after moving needed to change the configuration. Very happy it was still available. Very easy to change shelf heights, light enough to move around and very sturdy
Value, quality, customisable, paintableJuliaI bought this to go with some existing parts. Easy and fun to assemble with wooden pegs. Haven't painted cos it's used indoors and I like the pine. I like that I can put hooks on the end struts. Use a spirit level when assembling ivar shelves!
Fun to assemble, sturdy, customisableJuliaMy 11 year old son was able to assemble this by himself. It was fun with the wooden legs. We love the simplicity of the design and that you can paint them. We left the botton strut off because of some pipes that shelf had to go around.
Very HappyPhilipNot used Ivar before, but thought it would work, and it did. I painted the uprights the same as the wall colour of the room, and high gloss lacquer on the shelves. The assembly following the preparation was a dream and it came together as I had dreamed, or even a little better.

Old vs NewAnonymous reviewerI've used both the old and new versions of the IVAR shelving unit, and I like the design update. The new flat-pack parts fit easily in a standard car—no ute or van needed, unlike the preassembled older version. Assembly is straightforward: just insert the wooden dowels and hammer the side units together. It takes a bit of effort, but nothing too difficult. The old version seems a bit more stable, but the new one is still a solid, versatile shelving unit.
