Not sustainable lid designIianThis lid is designed to fail after a few use. The seam of the lid lock will break easily as many have encountered when using these lids. No wonder these lids are always out of stock. Not sustainable! Design better IKEA! We are left with containers without lids!1

Seal is Poor QualityNikiI like to store my containers with their lids however in this case this is not a good idea because the seal sticks to the glass. This causes two things to happen. (1) the seal pulls out of the lid and (2) the seal tears when trying to remove it from the glass container. This also happens when storing goods and then opening the container. So while the container and lid are good the seal is terrible.1

Great individual purchaseDonnaI have used these glass containers with plastic click on lids for years. The glass never stains like plastic does and when you somehow manage to lose a lid they are available to purchase individually which is unlike other brands. Also the lids are interchangeable with other size containers. Another plus. Will only ever buy these. 5

I always buy glass Tupperware and the lids sometimes don’t close perfectly but I have 2 of this type of lid and always closes perfect even though I pu it in the dishwasher sometimes

Around the world, a lot of food unnecessarily goes to waste every year. That's why we decided to contribute to reducing food waste by making it easier for people to store and take care of their food at home. We visited families in several countries to find out what they need and then developed the IKEA 365+ series for food storage. The series is flexible products that you can combine as you like and it makes it easier for you to store, save and take care of your food.

Story

Helps you take care of food – and the planet

If you want to reduce food waste but sometimes think it’s a bit of a pain to take care of your food, this might help. IKEA 365+ food storage products make it easier to store, save and bring food with you on the go. To get to know more about peoples’ needs, we visited families in several countries. We found out that it’s all about versatility and simplicity.

You've just put leftovers after eating into a food container, but can't find a lid that fits. Or maybe you've put a food container in the fridge with food in it, but you can't see what's inside the food container and completely forget about the food. These were things we heard time and time again when interviewing families about their experiences. “We wanted to develop products to make this easier,” says David Granath, a product developer who has worked with the project. “They should be simple and flexible. And easy to combine and use in ways that suit every household.”

No extra work

“It can involve things like using the same food container for several steps and just changing the lid. There shouldn't be any unnecessary extra work along the way,” says David. Transparent containers increase the chances that the food is consumed. And it must be easy to adapt the containers to serve different needs. “People asked for a coherent system for food storage. Not complicated special gadgets, yet rather simple and straightforward products that can be used often.”

Smart and super simple

The IKEA 365+ food containers and lids can be combined and also come in different materials and sizes. They are super simple – and that's the point. “We've put a lot of work into them, for example by seeing to it that all the different parts fit together. But the product itself is simple in a smart way.” We can't solve the entire food waste problem – but we can make it possible for everyone to be part of the solution.
