Unusually poorly designedAndrewI really wanted to love the IKEA 365+ coffee plunger. I’ve been trying to remove all the plastic in my kitchen and this plunger fit the bill perfectly. After a few days, I realised that it didn’t function even a tenth as well as IKEA’s Upphetta plunger, not pouring easily and dripping everywhere. At times, hot coffee would explode out like a volcano, all over me. I even decided to refinish the bamboo plunger knob because the varnish used by IKEA was cracking and flaking off. The final straw came this week when I discovered a crack had formed near the base of the glass. I can only conclude that the crack was caused by hot water. The next day, I used an older Bodum brand plunger and the difference was astonishing: no drips, explosions or even coffee grounds in my cup. I’ve since purchased an all-metal plunger that is double-walled and am enjoying a warmer and tidier coffee drinking experience, without fear of the glass breaking. Time to go back to the drawing board IKEA!2
