The lid has a silicone gasket that makes the container airtight, but it's not leakproof since the lid lacks a locking mechanism, so the container shouldn't be stored upside down.

Great little jarJolanI bought two of these little jars, with a flat lid and base to use as cloches to protect my miniature lego flowers. They looked great, until a possum ransacked the interior of my house and knocked them off the shelf! Alas, the two jars were still intact and the lids still on, however the contents of miniature lego flowers were smashed to pieces. Great little jars, with well fitting lids, that can be used upside-down as small cloches. Stood up to being pushed off a shelf about 1.2m high onto a carpeted floor.
Note: I never give full points to anything I review, so this is pretty good!
Great container for biscuits etc and very airtight. The Ikea clear stickers for containers are brilliant and they come off very easy if you wish to change them.
