Brimnes Bed Base with drawsSharonThis range of furniture is is great quality in the materials and easy to assemble. The draws are great and you can fit heaps in them !5
Brimnes queen bedHeidiMy son is happy with it, its got plenty of storage, he had no trouble assembling it, looks quite stylish.5
Living for this bedRhianninAbsolutely love the storage. So far not squeaky at all. Beautiful bed, seems very sturdy (as I spend more and more time at home on my bed these days). Straight forward to assemble, just a little time consuming (I watched a YouTube video on how to assemble, and referred to the instructions for the screws and bits).5
Took us quite a whileAnnTook us quite a while to assemble but was well worth it. Very sturdy bed. We were worried about it being noisy after reading other reviews but we have had no issue. We paid the extra $50 to upgrade the slats which is well worth it.5
great bed, amazing storageKerianneMy husband and I love our bed!! the storage is fantastic! it wasn't that hard to put together, the only thing was we forgot to buy the mid beam and slates... so we had to make another trip back. other than that it is working well and no creaking as stated in other comments. we used a drill to tighten screws etc.4
Great value for moneyMarkGreat value for money4
The squeakiest bed everKarolllinaThe storage space is awesome, I was able to fit so much stuff in the storage boxes which helped a lot. However the squeakiness is absolutely unbearable, very loud and super annoying coming even from slightest movement. Bought the bed a few weeks ago, now not sure what to do with it as I don’t feel comfortable re-selling a bad quality product to anyone. Also, this is my second bed frame from IKEA and the same problem occurred. Total waste of money :(1
Awfulmaddie25001I am so unhappy with this bed. It was very difficult to assemble, the instructions were impossible to follow. I haven’t even had it a week and it’s already creaky when I make the slightest movement. For what this bed cost, it definitely isn’t good value for money. I absolutely do not recommend this bed to anyone.1
Looks nice, very very difficult to assemblemaddie25001The bed looks nice, but definitely not worth the price. Not only was it difficult to assemble, the instructions were incredibly vague, adding to the difficulty. The instructions are unclear, and the drawers are hard to put on. So far, the bed is comfortable and structurally sound, but I would not recommend this product.3
Great value for money, but very high with mattressJollyBethBought this as an upgrade from the bed we purchased before we were married twenty years ago, so we were well overdue for a new set. Overall, more than happy with the bed (though only having spent one night in it so far, its probably a bit early for a full review) Some points to consider: * It will take a long time to build, so allow for that. We started at 4pm (bad idea), and finally put the bedding on at 11pm, including the slats, and every muscle hurt. * Putting together the slats can be frustrating (we upgraded to the Lonset ones) but the trick is to screw one side of the cross beams for the slat frame in tightly, and the other side loosely (as per the instructions!) and bulldog-clip one end of the webbing/strapping down in position over the screw-holes so that when you feed the slats through the webbing, it stays pretty even (the webbing doesn't have a lot of give, so its hard to wriggle it across once everything is properly bolted together). I hope that makes sense! * We went with the HOKKÅSEN pocket sprung mattress, which is one of the thicker styles, with two layers of pocket springs (one regular, one mini) and we built the bed on the LOWER of the two positions, and didn't use a mattress topper (just a protector). The bed is HUGE (expected, for a King) and HIGH. To paint a picture, my husband is a smidge shy of 6ft, and I'm 5'3. When he sits on his side, his feet just touch the ground. When *I* sit on my side, my feet dangle like a five-year-old sitting on a Big Girl Chair. I'm sure I'll get used to it (and the mattress is soft and comfortable, even in Firm), but if I ever roll out of bed, I'm going to hit the hardwood floor from a not-insignificant height :D * Some of the huge plusses: SO MUCH SPACE...we used to have a Queen bed and now with the King, last night when I rolled over and reached my hand out to my significant other I didn't even reach him. The bedding (also bought from Ikea) is crisp and white and of course fits everything perfectly. The drawers have an incredible amount of space in them. * Some of the negatives: If you don't go with the BRIMNES headboard option, you will probably want to find an alternative, or plan for some huge Euro pillows to use as a padded version behind your 'sleeping' pillows. The drawers, while great, have the slight annoyance of not being able to open the one closest to the head of the bed if you have a bedside table immediately next to them. It's not a huge deal for us, but consider storing an out-of-season quilt there, rather than items you use every day (or even weekly) or you'll be forever hefting your bedside table out of the way to get to them. Overall, very happy.4
Solid Frame, Awful Installation.Nathan LPLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GET THE BASIC SLATS. I got the medium frame (Longset) and the assembly took 4 people, including someone who has previously made the frame. Besides the slats, the frame was difficult but not impossible to assemble if you keep the tools and parts organized. The frame looks great but functionality is inconsistent as the drawers don't slide open very smoothly. Keep in mind I purchased this bed frame on sale which is why I do believe is still a good value for the money. I have been sleeping on the frame for about two weeks now and there seems to be no problems besides the drawers. Overall solid frame, just be prepared to build it.4
Dissatisfied - Poor quality and designBrisBelleI thought IKEA had started to move beyond this quality of cheap disposable furniture with a short lifespan. I attached my bedhead securely to the frame which hasn't been a problem but the drawers became quickly unlevel, they also fill up with dirt and dust which is extremely frustrating. The handles will take chunks out of your ankles at night until you remove them. If I hadn't attached my own bedhead and drilled a hole for an extension cord I would have crankily returned the bedframe.1
Stylish and great storage solution!mazsozsoPurchased this bed frame after recomendation from my flatmate. I love it so much! The storage draws can maintain 20kg each and is a great solution when you do not have a lot of space for furniture etc. The design is beautiful as well and very stylish. Assembling does take time and its important to take care when following the instructions!5
Sturdy, practical and looks nicehsteenWe have had this bed for about 5 years and it's still good. It does take time to assemble but that's expected with all the drawers etc. Our only issue has been not enough air ventilation through the drawers so at one point we got a bit of mould on the underside of the mattress in the winter.. But that also might have to do with the small size of our room and limited ventilation in general. We drilled some extra holes in the back of the drawers to solve the problem, and that seemed to help. The colour is not as white as it was when it was new, but it still looks nice and has held up well! We have the headboard as well which provides more shelving, so works really well when you have a small bedroom and limited storage. Definitely recommend if you need extra storage. We like the look of it and it has been much sturdier than our previous bed. Haven't noticed any squeaking. Recommended!4
Great for light storageAbi7We have had this bed for almost years and has held up well over several moves. Its great for those needing storage however because the drawers are so big it’s easy to over load them and break the bottom, remember to follow weight limitations. The bed does take a fairly long time to assemble as it has a lot of pieces.3
Do not recommendKimberlyayuDo not recommend this bed. Extremely squeaky. Took 6+ hours to assemble. The structure does not seem sturdy. So disappointing after spending so much money and additional costs on delivery.1
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT !!! (No squeaks at all!)Team GILLMy husband & I absolutely LOVE our new white KS Brimnes bed with ample storage in the drawers beneath! It has the roomiest drawers of all ... & we looked around A LOT at so many different bed retailers before settling on the Brimnes. We have 6 sets of linen in different colours for our bed which have matching bathroom towel & mat sets ... PLUS the mattress & pillow protectors & blankets. We've been able to store ALL of this in 2 & a half of the drawers using the KonMarie method. We still have 1 & a half drawers left to put some more stuff in. So we're especially pleased. We didn't get the bedhead because we wanted to conserve space. But we worried our bedsides would restrict access to the drawers. Seeing all the stuff we use regularly fitted in 2 drawers ... that's no longer a problem for us. The bed's been delightful all on it's own ... & we'll make a flat bedhead ourselves sometime down the track. We teamed our Brimnes with a Lonset support base which lifts our mattress just proud of the internal area so it rests on the outside rim of the bed. We already had our Aussie KS mattress which is 3cm longer than the IKEA European size, so we were thrilled it still has support right to the edges. It was very good advice from the IKEA assistant that helped us with this. If we'd bought the Luroy bed base, our mattress would've been struggling to fit down inside the interior framework. It would've been too long & just wouldn't have worked. So her advice saved us from this so we were able to make the Brimnes work for our existing mattress. We don't like to compromise on sleep anyway ... so we're VERY happy with the Lonset too. Our only concern at the outset was the review saying the Brimnes was really squeaky & noisy. This has not been the case with ours at all. We've now been sleeping on it for a month & it makes no noise at all. My husband works shifts & gets up at a variety of times. I'm not woken by any squeaking when he gets up & down from bed. I also don't hear anything when he's moving around during the night. We have 200kgs between us ... so I'm guessing if anyone was going to make the bed squeak ... it'd be us. I have already thoroughly recommended this bed to all my family & friends. My mother lay on it & didn't want to get up! She kept commenting on how supportive & comfortable it was. It really is an excellent solid, supportive & very comfortable bed with the added BONUS of very generous storage drawers. This bed most definitely 'SPARKS JOY! for us. We love how it's transformed our bedroom & sleep. A BIG Double Thumbs Up!5
Squeaky and Unbelievably Noisybert1989I was so happy when I first got this bed, reasonable price and big storage space. Couple months later the bed started to squeak, I tried to tighten the screws and did other tricks but nothing helps. Now the bed is at the point where it is making so much noise even just by sitting on it, not recommended.2
