Terrible packagingSharleenI think product packaging should be consider as a part of a product, as well as the packing and delivery service. We ordered this glass panel in store as a part of the BESTA TV bench. The quality of this glass panel looks fine and it will be useful to protect the TV bench surface. However, because of the terrible original package design that is basically no protection for such a big piece of glass and the unprofessional packing of IKEA warehouse, the edge of this glass panel is broken when it delivered to my home. After 3 times phone calls and about 2 hours waiting on hold, I was still unable to connect with a IKEA customer service representive. Since we cannot put such long glass on our Polo and drive to IKEA to exchange, my husband went to IKEA Adelaide store and asked help in the return and exchange centre. A case file was created and we were promised to received a phone call on the next day. However, 3 days later, we are still waiting.3

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
