IKEA is Turning a Sydney Home Into the Ultimate Designer Staycation for $19.95 a Night

The pop-up listing celebrates the launch of the 10th IKEA PS 2026 collection, launched in 1995
Across five nights only, across 3–8 June, to celebrate the launch of the new IKEA PS 2026 collection, IKEA is giving lucky Aussies the chance to stay the night in a fully styled designer residence in Camperdown, Sydney that has been fully transformed with the new collection before it officially lands in stores on 4 June.
The public will have the opportunity to secure one of five exclusive overnight stays, on a first-come, first-served basis, offering Aussies the rare opportunity to be the first in the country to live inside the new IKEA PS 2026 collection. At a time when rising rents and housing costs continue to surge, the $19.95 stay (less than two servings of IKEA meatballs!) is designed to reflect IKEA’s longstanding belief in democratic design, while the price point is a nod to 1995, the year the IKEA PS collection first launched.
Set inside an architecturally designed Inner West property, the IKEA PS home has been fully reimagined through the lens of the 2026 collection. Guests will experience the PS collection's playful functionality and trademark Scandinavian design which has been one of IKEA’s most iconic product ranges of all time.
Patricia Routledge, Head of Communications at IKEA Australia and New Zealand, said the initiative is designed to bring IKEA’s design philosophy to life in an unexpected way.
“A night away in Sydney over a long weekend can easily cost hundreds of dollars, so opening an extraordinary designer home for $19.95 is intentionally disruptive and a big nod to our core values of affordability and cost-consciousness,” she said.
“The IKEA PS 2026 collection delivers that ‘wow, I didn’t see that coming’ moment, something surprising, optimistic, playful and brave, while always staying affordable. This collection brings playful functionality to life through small, smart ideas that can brighten everyday moments. That’s why we’ve created IKEA Staycation, so people can experience the joy and functionality of the collection in a real-life setting, at an affordable price for so many.”
Originally launched in 1995, the IKEA PS collection has long served as a platform for experimental, forward-thinking design. Thirty years on, in its tenth iteration, the 2026 edition continues that legacy, responding to evolving lifestyles with adaptable furniture and flexible living solutions designed for the way people live now. Recently launched at the world’s premier design event, Milan Design Week, IKEA PS brings together 43 playful, multifunctional designs. Key pieces of the new collection include the return of the iconic inflatable chair, a sculptural lounge chair that unfolds into a guest bed, hidden-storage furniture, a playful rocking bench and expressive textiles and glassware all designed to balance bold Scandinavian design with practical everyday use.
