IKEA announces first-ever home fitness and workout collection, DAJLIEN

IKEA is entering the fitness world for the first time with its new, limited edition DAJLIEN collection, available across Australia on 1 January 2024.
The DAJLIEN (Swedish word for “daily”) collection features products ranging from $6 to $149, including exercise mats (from $39), a step-up board ($49), a set of ring-shaped dumbbells ($35) and a belt bag ($10) – all designed to be easy to use, store, and transport.
DAJLIEN has been developed through the belief that if it is made easier for people to exercise wherever they like, then even a bit of activity is within reach for everyone – every day.
The collection is built on insights from home visits across various cities, including New York, Chicago, London and Shanghai where IKEA has learned about experiences linked to working out at home. The findings highlight common challenges connected to motivation, limited space, time constraints, and the discomfort many feel when working out at a gym. At the same time, exercise products are seen as bulky and can clash with home decor.
The DAJLIEN collection overcomes those challenges with smart, adaptable products that enable people to stay active, even when at home.
Inspired by the need for multi-functional solutions that seamlessly fit into the home, the DAJLIEN collection is part training equipment, part storage. Many of the collection’s products serve not only as training equipment but also as stylish and practical design pieces.
“Not everyone feels safe or comfortable going to a gym and at home we often deal with small space and time constraints. DAJLIEN was born from the desire to find smart solutions that address these limitations and help people create a convenient and motivating place for exercise", says Sarah Fager, Designer at IKEA of Sweden. “We wanted to create smart, beautiful products to inspire and redefine training as a fun, easy and natural everyday activity.”
The products in DAJLIEN are designed with subtle colours and details, supporting the collection’s focus on products that blend into the home and naturally become part of the everyday environment.
DAJLIEN extends beyond fitness gear to include recovery and stress relief products, including an air purifier ($59), and a set of yoga straps, kneepads and massage ball ($49), all in soft and soothing shades. It also offers several wearable pieces, like slippers ($10) and two distinct ponchos ($69), for post-workout relaxation and wellness, as well as storage pieces like the DAJLIEN bench with storage ($149).
“DAJLIEN is all about supporting movement and helping people live more active lives at home. We have designed a collection that helps bridge the gap between home and active life, that recognizes that training can take many shapes and forms and that you don’t need a lot of space to do a simple workout”, says Akanksha Deo, Designer at IKEA of Sweden.
The DAJLIEN collection will be available across Australia at IKEA in-store, online, on the IKEA app or remotely via phone and online chat, from 1 January 2024.
