IKEA Australia becomes first home furnishing retailer to launch shop and go feature

Launching ahead of the busy Christmas shopping period, customers shopping at IKEA Logan and North Lakes in Queensland will be the first to experience the new feature, which can be activated via the IKEA App, or by scanning the QR code in-store.
Mobile check-out has been introduced to speed up the checkout process for customers who can now scan products directly on their phone as they shop and pay at the marked checkouts on the way out - no need to unpack and repack trolleys or bags to complete payment.
The new feature will be introduced nationally across all stores around Australia next year.
With an average wait time of six minutes in line to checkout, plus the time taken to unload and reload items, the feature will save customers time and effort.
Christian Becker, Country Customer Manager, said, “We’re thrilled to launch Mobile check-out as a new initiative to make shopping easier, faster and more convenient for our customers. Our co-workers can now also support more customers where their help is most needed, which is super important in the busy Christmas shopping period. Our goal is to provide our customers with a consistent, seamless, and efficient shopping experience across all channels. Mobile check-out is a first for home furnishing retailers in Australia, and we’re proud to lead the way with this initiative with the aim of creating a no-wait checkout experience for our customers.”
Notes to editors
Most items you can pick up in store can be scanned to the Mobile check-out feature. Complex purchases like kitchens and custom wardrobes, home delivery and restaurant/bistro items are not included. For any items that cannot be scanned using Mobile check-out, customers can have these scanned at the till and the transactions will be merged.
