How an IKEA interior designer brought her dream kitchen to life
IKEA Rhodes Interior Design Manager, Ann Edvall, has recently completed her kitchen space – an area she describes as the “engine of the home.” Ann’s kitchen needed to compliment her open plan living space whilst also look beautiful and highly functional, making cooking and storing effortless.

Choosing the right cabinetry
When it came to choose the finishes in the kitchen, Ann chose timeless black fronts and white stone top expression with the warmth of oak accent doors, making the kitchen a feature in her open plan space. She even mentions she can easily change the accent of her doors if she changes her mind in the future.

Clever internal storage
When designing her kitchen, it was important for Ann have smart internal storage, creating a completely organised and decluttered kitchen where everything has a place. Large drawers with internal drawers inside enabled Ann to have her spices in reach from the stove and any cooking pots close by. Ann's pantry is a mix of drawers, shelves and wire baskets strategically placed so she can reach all her goods in the drawers below and wire baskets above.
Working with integrated lighting
One of Ann’s top tips for those looking to plan their kitchen is to remember integrated lighting. Not only does integrated lighting help when preparing food, but it can also act as a mood light and create ambience for when you have guests over.
