IKEA recalls GOTHEM lamps due to the risk of electric shock

Date: 2016-03-17

KEA urges customers who have a GOTHEM lamp to immediately stop using it and to bring it back to any IKEA store for a full refund.

Defect: Damaged cables in some of the lamps have been found. Damaged cables can lead to the metal body of the lamp becoming electrically live and thereby creating a safety hazard.

Hazard: IKEA is recalling all GOTHEM floor and table lamps due to the risk of electric shock.

What to do: Even if the lamp is working, IKEA urges all customers that have a GOTHEM lamp to immediately stop using it and to return it to any IKEA store for a full refund. The GOTHEM lamps have been sold since October 2015.

Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required.
