Date: 2018-09-26
IKEA recalls CALYPSO ceiling lamp with date stamps 1625 to 1744 due to risk of falling shades.
IKEA urges all customers who purchased CALYPSO ceiling lamps between 1 August 2016 and 5 September 2018 to check the manufacturing date stamp on the product. IKEA is recalling CALYPSO ceiling lamps manufactured between and including these date stamps (YYWW): 1625 to 1744. Defect: IKEA has received reports of glass shades breaking and falling.
Article No: 00065176
Hazard: Risk of injury from glass breaking and falling to the floor or from contact with broken glass after the lamp shade breaks. Incidents have occurred and caused injuries to consumers.
What to do: Customers who purchased a CALYPSO lamp after the 1st of August 2016 should carefully remove the glass shade and look for the manufacturing date stamp on the lamp. If this shows that their CALYPSO is one of the affected date stamps (1625 to 1744), they should contact IKEA to organise a replacement or refund. No receipt or proof of purchase is required.
