IKEA Smart Home Policy

Product support policy for smart products from IKEA

 

At IKEA, we want our smart products to be long-lasting. That’s why long-term use guides us when we design, develop and improve our products and software.  

You can keep using your smart home products from IKEA, for as long as they last.

Use cases:

  1. You can use the IKEA smart products for their basic functions (e.g., turn on and off a light bulb) with or without the use of remotes or connection to your DIRIGERA hub or TRÅDFRI gateway.
  2. You can use the IKEA smart products with your DIRIGERA hub or TRÅDFRI gateway connected with the applicable IKEA Home smart app (IKEA Home smart for DIRIGERA hub and IKEA Home smart 1 for TRÅDFRI gateway).

When your DIRIGERA hub or TRÅDFRI gateway is connected to the internet, the software of these smart products will be updated with new features. However, there is a practical limit to the capabilities of the electronics of the products, and we want our products to function at their best. For that reason, we work with the following policy when it comes to providing digital updates and patches.

Our Policy

 

DIRIGERA hub

The hub is built on the open standard Matter and we will offer support for a minimum of five years after purchase, to ensure the hub:

  • Gets security updates.
  • Works with the IKEA Home smart app.
  • Get updates to ensure compatibility with other smart Matter systems.

 

TRÅDFRI gateway

We will offer support for a minimum of three years after purchase, to ensure the TRÅDFRI gateway:

  • Gets security updates.
  • Works with the applicable IKEA Home smart app (IKEA Home smart 1).
  • Gets updates to ensure compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Apple Home and Google Assistant.

 

TRÅDFRI smart products

We will offer support for a minimum of three years after purchase, to ensure TRÅDFRI smart products:

  • Get security updates.
  • Work with applicable IKEA Home smart app (IKEA Home smart 1 for TRÅDFRI gateway).

If your smart products no longer work with TRÅDFRI gateway you can use them with your remote controls and if you wish, with DIRIGERA hub.

 

Smart Matter products from IKEA

We will offer software support for smart products from IKEA for at least five years [PE1] [JB2] after purchase if connected with the DIRIGERA hub or any other [JB3] [MS4] hub with Matter support, to ensure that your smart products from IKEA:

  • Get security updates.
  • Work with applicable IKEA Home smart app (IKEA Home smart for DIRIGERA hub).

 

Other smart products from IKEA (including SYMFONISK speakers)

We will offer software support for smart products from IKEA for at least five years after purchase if connected with the DIRIGERA hub, to ensure that your smart products from IKEA:

  • Get security updates.
  • Work with applicable IKEA Home smart app (IKEA Home smart for DIRIGERA hub)
