Do I need a receipt for returns and how are the refunds made?

The original receipt or proof of purchase is required for returns and refunds will always be made back to the original method of purchase.

Your IKEA receipt will clearly state the purchase method (including last 4 digits of the card used to purchase). IKEA can only provide returns where the original card is present. Any item purchased during a promotional period will only receive a pro-rata refund (less the promotional discount).

If you made your purchase in store and no longer have the receipt, and it was not logged under your IKEA Family account, IKEA can look up your store receipt with a few details:

  • Date of purchase
  • Store of purchase
  • Exact amount of transaction
  • Last 4 digits of the card used (card payments via a digital wallet may have different last four digits to the physical card).
