Can IKEA METOD Kitchen Cabinets Hold Washing Machines or Dryers?

If you’re planning a laundry setup in your kitchen, you might wonder if IKEA METOD base cabinets house a washing machine or dryer. IKEA METOD cabinets are not designed to hold washing machines or dryers.

IKEA METOD kitchen base cabinets, regardless of their size—whether 600 mm or 800 mm wide, or depths of 60 cm or 37 cm—are not designed to accommodate washing machines or dryers.
There are two main reasons for this:
  1. Measurement Limitations
    Washing machines and dryers require specific dimensions and structural support that METOD cabinets do not provide. The cabinet sizes and internal configurations are intended for kitchen storage, not for heavy appliances.
  2. Structural and Safety Concerns
    METOD cabinets have not been tested or engineered to withstand the weight and vibration of washing machines or dryers. Placing these appliances inside or on top of METOD cabinets can lead to instability, damage, and potential safety hazards.
For these reasons, IKEA does not recommend using METOD cabinets to house or support washing machines or dryers. Always follow manufacturer guidelines for appliance installation to ensure safety and durability.
