Julbord Buffet!
A julbord – pronounced ‘yuleboard’, literally meaning Christmas table – is a feast for the eye and a treat for your tastebuds, with its colourful combinations of food that can be both salty, sweet or acidic. But look carefully and you’ll see that the dishes can be grouped in three parts: Cold dishes, hot dishes and desserts. If you want to navigate like the Northerners, start with the pickled herring, then move on to the cold cuts, then the warm dishes, and finally dessert. But of course, you being you, you’re free to pick and choose. Merry Christmas – or, as the Swedes say, god jul!

Select from a variety of cards and feel good knowing that 100% of the proceeds from sales of UNICEFF cards goes to the US fund for UNICEF.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) works in 190 counties and territories to save and improve children’s lives, providing health care and immunizations, clean water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more. The U.S Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF’s work through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States. Together, we are working toward the day when ZERO children die from preventable causes and every child has a safe and healthy childhood.

IKEA is all-in for cotton from more sustainable sources
As of September 1, 2015 – all cotton used in the future production of IKEA products will come from more sustainable sources.

Cotton from more sustainable sources means that the cotton is grown with less water, less chemical fertilizer and less pesticides, while increasing profit margins for farmers leading to a better quality of life for their families, including schooling for their children through our collaborations with UNICEF and Save the Children.

Cotton is an important raw material for IKEA, used in many products, from sofas to towels. However, when grown conventionally, cotton farming uses large amounts of chemicals and water, raising costs and making it harder for farmers to earn a living. This milestone is part of a long journey to help transform the cotton industry. In 2010, IKEA together with the conservation organization WWF and other leading public and private organisations helped set up the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI).
