Shrunk 8 inchesTessaGreat curtains… until washed. They shrunk 8 inches even following instructions. Too late for return. Wish I had bought the longer ones and shrunk them to the proper length. Stuck with high-water curtains!
Damage in the middle.MarissaI recently bought ten pairs of curtains in different sizes. The color, 100% cotton fabric, and the hook style preferred by my husband influenced our decision to purchase them. When they arrived, I decided to hang one without washing it first to see how it hangs and if it matches the paint and overall decor in my house. However, after hanging just one, I noticed damage in the middle of the curtain, which was very noticeable and affected its overall quality. I will need to spend about an hour driving if I exchange the curtain. I still need to examine the rest of the curtains.
If you buy never wash! FrederickFollowed the care instructions and still lost way over 8 inches… 4% shrinkage is expected but 8 inches is way over.

SHRINK!JessicaI’m crazy careful w/ laundering fabrics because I want my things to last. Washed these on cold/gentle, dried on low heat/gentle for about 10 minutes, then hung them upside down in order to finish drying, wrinkle-free. Put them on the rod in the morning and each panel had shrunk between 4-6 inches! That’s significant shrinkage and I had to return. However, fabric looked good after laundering (no excessive wear, undone seams).
ONE TIME USELuanaAs others have said, THEY SHRINK after washing. Mind you that I washed in cold, and let LINE DRYING because I wanted to avoid the excessive wrinkles. ZERO HEAT WAS APPLIED. I didn't even iron. I put them up and was about to use the steamer to remove the wrinkles when I discovered they were around 5 inches shorter and MUCH WHITER than the others. WHITER!!! The tan color disappeared and it became as white as my sheets. I used only laundry soap and scent, zero bleach, zero anything else, how come these things lost the color? Luckily they are cheap so I will be buying new ones for more thirty bucks so they can match the others in the house. Pretty annoying tho. Now I know that I can never wash them again. I'd be happier if they said in the description we cannot wash. It's about expectations.
Thicker than I expectedMayThis set of curtain is a good buy! Easy to pull away without me having to use the step stool.
Great curtains until you have to wash them. BUT...JimThese curtains have been hanging in my north-facing bedroom for at least 10 years without washing. They are not room darkening, but the fabric is heavy. I hung them just over 7 feet high. Two pairs for corner windows. Looks great, Durable, held up well. No issues. No discoloration. Today, I washed them (finally, after 10 years). I pulled them out of the dryer while they were still slightly damp and ironed them. They MUST be ironed after washing. They don't iron easily. The fabric tends to hang on to wrinkles. It would probably be more difficult to iron if you completely dry them. After ironing, I hung them back up and they shrunk by 4 inches in length. They probably shrunk in width by a couple inches. Despite ironing, it's still a little wrinkled. I am going to replace these with a different pair. But the fabric will be re-used. They are great for cushions or making shopping bags.

One Time Use - Shrinks!SharonI gave this product 2 stars instead of 1 just because they look good and are thick enough for hot and cold weather window covering. After the 1st wash in COLD water and low setting on dryer these panels didn’t shrink a little, they shrank almost 7-8 inches! I got one use out of 4 panels and now have to get rid of them. I’m so disappointed, they looked really nice.
Light filtering, not darkeningJenniferI purchased these to have a room darkening effect in my living room to make it possible to watch the projector during daylight. I already have blinds up and planned to layer them with another set of light filtering curtains, but even with all three together, substantial light was coming through. The new curtains darkened the room less than my other ones, also from IKEA, and labeled at the light filtering level. I will be returning them.

Very nice quality!AnnFor the money, these are truly some of the best off-the shelf-drapes I've purchased!! The weight of the fabric and quality are very nice...fabric doesn't have a lot of sheen, which I like, and is a nice weight. These are classified as "room darkening" which still lets in some light so our bedroom is not pitch black like a "blackout" fabric would make it, and it definitely filters way more light than a "light filtering" drape. I don't think you can ask for much better than these for $40!
