Product details

The room darkening fabric lets in a small amount of light and there is no glare on TV/screens. It gives a strong sense of privacy as shapes and light are barely perceived from the outside.

Effective at keeping out both drafts in the winter and heat in the summer.

If you lift the curtain and place it on the windowsill, you get even greater protection against drafts while the heat from the radiator can spread out into the room.

Curtains with heading tape allow you to hang the curtain directly on the curtain rod using the rod pocket or tabs. You can also hinge the curtain onto a track rail using gliders and hooks.

The heading tape makes it easy for you to create pleats using RIKTIG curtain hooks.

Using gliders and hooks usually creates a more formal and dressed-up feel, where hardware is not visible.

The fabric in recycled polyester is easy-care and retains its colors ‒ wash after wash.

Awesome 5 years nowKaraI love them! I have the teal blue. They are easy to wash and don't fade. I do have them in the dryer regular heat no issues. For the windows I like using the woven back tabs it looks better that way. Our sliding doors we use the rod pockets easier to slide. We hang our curtains high only a couple inches on the floor. I don't care to hem them. I do wish they'd come back with the same color but lighter color just because I have to keep my blinds closed due to health issue.5

Nice color but stiffEvaThe curtain color is very nice, I was skeptical about the stripes first. I had them hanging on hooks and rings on a curtain rod and unfortunately they were very stiff, even after washing them. The did not hold up drapes and were standing off to the both sides. They do provide privacy, even with lights on at night you could not see through them.3
Bunches weird at the topLisaPretty disappointed with these. I’ve tried hanging them just about every way possible, but they bunch up weird at the top. I tried to create the pleated look using the Ikea pin hooks. For whatever reason, the fabric doesn't allow for this. I thought it might look better using rings with clips but it doesnt :( The fabric feels cheapy and has a strange sheen. I’ve loved other Ikea curtains, but I wish I had skipped these.3
Love these curtains LaurenThese are perfect light blocking curtains and they look so expensive. I love that they come in a pair. I have the discontinued blue and the grey and I wish they’d bring back the discontinued blue. They are also great at dampening road noise. Love them. 5

How do you get the wrinkles out?RobertI recently purchased these curtains at Ikea. For me it was love at first sight, however, I'm having difficulty getting the packaging creases out of them. I've steam ironed them and hung them but the curtains still look like they just came out of the package. Any suggestions? (Written by Rob's wife.)3

The beige color is different than the photo -- seems to have a little more gray in it, and there’s a subtle stripe you don’t see on the web page. Especially disappointed I can return online!3

Too bulky & low quality mounting ChristinaThese curtains function ok, but the bottom is too bulky and doesn't follow the pleat at the top of the curtains. So they don't lay flat at all. Also the loop mounting is very cheap and gets caught on the curtain rod when opening. 3
Beautiful curtains 😍 AnastasiiaThese curtains are of a great quality and are a great choice for room darkening, but actually they work as a black out more. If you have white or very light wall color they will work perfectly and delight any room. If you have light grey walls, it will still work perfectly if you match it with couch or table, or kitchen cabinets (this is what we have). I really recommend them)5

damaged from first wash following care instructionsRachelCareful to follow care instructions, I washed (& air dried) these prior to a planned hem. Once back on my curtain rods (I had hung them first to make sure I liked the color in my bedroom), there are now what appear like slashes and holes across both panels from the back side, allowing light to come through to the front side; that is, the two pieces appear to have separated from one another in these spaces. Because I waited to start this project past 180 days, they are not returnable. This has changed my opinion of IKEA from my go-to home products source to seeking another company for my home furnishings. I have six gray panels that I also washed and air-dried; they are currently folded and awaiting the rehang, and I am afraid to see whether they were damaged too. Disappointed. 1

Great neutral color for any roomNancyThe color & weight if the fabric is a great addition to any room. It does its job in darkening the room to regulate the rooms temperature by keeping the sun out, keeping the room cool in the summer and keeping the room warm in the winter months. 5
Look carefully at pictures of product before orderingJanetI put an incredible amount of time trying to get these drapes to look like the pic on the left & they do NOT hang straight like shown in pic with pleats to the floor. (Yes, I know I could have used my time better and should have stopped sooner!) I tried the hooks on the bar method, the thread pockets thru the pole, hooking them to rings that I bought a pole for, steamed and even "trained" them as shown online for a week.....no go. They're more like the billowy look on the video on the Ikea site because the fabric is so heavy and the fabric doesn't hold a pleat. If you like the billowy look, buy these but if you're looking for something more tailored, these won't give you that. Just my opinion, of course.....3

Material

What is polyester?

Polyester is a durable, quick-drying and insulating material that is optimal to use for textiles and as filling in pillows, quilts and furniture. The material is made from crude oil – a limited resource. Since IKEA doesn’t want to contribute to more virgin oil being used, we are now gradually switching to recycled and traceable polyester from sources like PET bottles. What’s nice is that polyester can be recycled over and over, without changing or losing its great qualities.
