Doesn't workCodiWe have several of these blinds already, but we have now received 2 of these blinds within the last 3 weeks that will not lower and raise.1
Size not wide enoughRob N.This would've been perfect, except the largest size doesn't cover my smallest windows. I'm very sad to see they don't offer wider sizes, or take custom measures :(2
Great looking blinds, some tech glitchesJill D.I loved these blinds when I first bought them almost 4 mos ago. They were easy to install and look good. But one of them won't go all the way down anymore - and it's impossible to tell why. I changed the battery and it didn't make a difference. I also was never able to get the remote to work so I use it manually. Maybe a good looking product with short lifespan.4
Very promising after a few weeksDaniel V.The product itself is probably 4.5 stars, at least so far (we installed it maybe a few weeks ago). Pros: - Pretty easy installation, all things considered. - Smart home setup was pleasantly easy. - Works with Siri/Google and remote simultaneously. (TIP: you need to connect your REMOTE to the HUB, rather than pairing it to the blinds directly). - Remote is a clever design. - Blinds look quite good and are affordable. - Fabric does not let any light through. Cons: - No screws included for mounting, and not even instructions about which screw size/thickness to get. Instructions would’ve been helpful rather than having to figure it out. - Suuuuuuper slow, and not exactly quiet. But not terribly loud either. - Only one color option (can’t really dock any points for that though). - Warranty information is hard to find. - No option to hardwire them (but I knew that, of course). Overall conclusion: positive. Have ordered four more. Another ten to follow, maybe.4
Works ONLY via remote, or app, but not bothAnonymousThe blinds themselves are an excellent means for decoratively creating a blackout condition. For me that’s when I want to watch my 8’ projection TV screen without attracting curious neighbors’ attention! The problem is that they can only be operated by either the included remote control, OR the IKEA Home Smart app. Not interchangeably. If you first pair them with the remote, followed by the app, then the remote loses its pairing and so is useless. Same is true in reverse: after successfully pairing the blinds with the app, followed by pairing with the remote, they no longer are even visible in the app, so, useless app. Boooooo IKEA!!! I’m using the newest IKEA Hub, the Dirigera, released in November 2022, but I’m returning it. Had hoped to connect it and my AppleTV via HomeKit so to operate them when not home, but they could never see/connect to each other. Up/down isn’t fast. Takes 39 seconds to descend 44 inches. Same speed going up. Love ‘em though. Side by side gap barely 1/4”!4
Great option for (relatively) inexpensive smart shades.CHRISTOPHER C.I purchased 10 of these for 3 different rooms in my house. I already have a lot of the IKEA smart home products so I'm already in their Home Smart ecosystem and these are cheaper than a lot of other options. Installing them in the windows was very easy, just a couple screws for the brackets and the shades clip right in. Setting them up in the IKEA app was fairly simple, but it took a while and there was a couple hiccups. They do a good job blocking light from outside with just a little bleed around the edges. If the measurements matched my windows better or if I could resize the blinds to fit better then there would be less light coming in around the edges. They're not insanely loud, but they do make noise when they open and close. Enough noise to freak out my dogs. If I have all 10 opening or closing at the same it sounds like a swarm of bees is invading my house. Definitely happy with my purchase and will be buying more for other rooms in the house.4
Automatic blindsJillLoved these automated blinds. Nice way to update a room and windows. Wish the remotes were easier to operate, but that’s the only problem. Thankfully there is a button in the blind that makes them easy to operate without the remote.5
Good qualityALMAThe available dimensions unfortunately didn’t match our windows but we observed the very good quality and craftsmanship of the shades5
Great qualityDEBBIEThey looked sturdy in the store however when I got home they did not fit my windows. I had the wrong measurements. Unfortunately IKEA does not sell a blind big enough. These were well priced too. I gave 1 start for installation since I never got to install them. I gave 5 stars for how they worked b/c I demo'd them in the store and they moved up and down so smooth.5
Remote Does Not PairAnonymousThe shades themselves are decent and the motor function works well. Installation is also a breeze. However, I will be returning them. I have spent hours pairing and re-pairing the remotes. I have set up many smart home devices and have even made my own device handlers for the Smart Things hub to pair this with so I do not need the Tradfri Gateway (which Ikea is rumored to phase out anyways - so another reason NOT TO BUY). Ikea support does not exist as this is how they keep their products ... eh, except for this one, more affordable. Please Do not waste your time with this product. It could be good, but likely needs to be upgraded and reproduced with new hardware and better supporting products before it can reliably work.1
Looks good but doesn't come with muchHoang P.The blinds were easy to install and they seem to function well. The speed is very slow when going up or down but I'm ok with that. What I'm not OK with is Ikea cheaping out and not including any screws or even a battery for the remote. I spent $700 on 5 of these, the least they can do is include the 50 cent battery for the remote and the screws needed to mount the brackets. FWIW, the battery appears to be a CR2032 which they sell in the store. I had just installed some Ikea cabinets and had some leftover screws that worked for mounting the brackets.3
Break after a few monthsPritesh P.I loved these at first. It was great to be able to have my blinds be automated at a relatively affordable price. I purchased 6 of these in total and now am down to 3 that still work. Eventually the string on one side of the blind will break and you'll be left with a lop-sided, half-closed/half-open blind. Very disappointed in the build quality of these, not to mention they get extremely dusty (and I'm afraid to even touch the remaining ones for fear of breaking them). Also, setting some of them up was a breeze while some of them gave me a lot of trouble, not sure why since I didn't do anything differently for any of them. The most disappointing thing, I think, is the customer service from Ikea. They refuse to accept that I return these junk blinds via mail, so I have to drive 3 hours to my nearest store to get them returned. I have 2 of the Fyrtur blinds and they work way better and seem to be better quality.1
Motorized BlindArnieWaste of time & money. First one was missing a part and the second one wouldn’t pair.1
Good product, can be betterRAVNEETPretty good product at a decent price point. Bluish/ grayish white color, not pure white, I guess the black insulation inside the cells may causing this dull hue. Usually Ikea products are very well thought and designed, but these blinds have room for improvement. The hanging brackets for these blinds leave about a centimeter of gap at the top of window frame letting light through, besides looking bit unfinished and brackets jetting out of the top, our old Levolor blinds were invisible and top of blinds were flush with the top of window frame. Also, the brackets are way longer than the thickness of the blinds, which leaves a gap of an inch or more behind the blinds, would be better if the blinds are closer to the window by half an inch more, and brackets invisible. We did cut the metal brackets a bit to make the blinds hang closer to window, but you can cut upto a certain depth as the hanging mechanism needs some space behind to twist and then fit in the brackets. Other than that, these are good, light blocking is perfect, open close buttons on blinds, as well as remotes work fine so far. The automation hub is out of stock these days, so can’t comment on voice control yet. Cell size is bit bigger than average size of cells of other brands but not a big deal for us. Would have given 5 stars, if brackets were better designed.4
blindsBradEasy to install, works as described.5
Broke in 5 months, setup and app are sketchy. Block sun well, hold charge wellCameron D.I purchased 4 shades, the setup was less than intuitive and took me a few hours to complete. Even once setup was complete, shades would fall out of their assigned groups in the app. Then one broke, and Ikea doesn't stand by their products beyond 5 months so I'm out of luck, no exchange even if I was a packrat from the 90s who kept the receipts to things they buy. Other than that, the shades function as expected, block out almost all sun, and hold a charge for a long time. Now I feel trapped in this ecosystem since I have 3 other shades and a bridge : /2
Quality and AffordableSamuelI have always wanted smart blinds but brands such as Lutron are just too expensive which is why I decided to try iKea first. I initially purchased the Fyrtur blinds and they worked great but the Tredansen is a much better fit edge to edge so I exchanged my Fyrtur blinds. I also wanted a smart blind that easily interfaces with Siri and Alexa since I use both in my home and they work flawlessly. In the end it was around $3500 for all the windows in my home but well worth it. Now before I leave for work I simple say “Hey Siri, Close all the blinds” I also have them set to open automatically 15 min after sunrise. You will not be disappointed with this purchase!5
Amazing smart blinds!EstherThese were exactly what we were looking for! I have been amazed at the light blocking, but even more amazed as the room is significantly cooler with these blinds.5
Excellent! Couldn’t get different remotesANDREExcellent! Couldn’t get different remotes to control different shades within the same room (easy to pair one control for all). Otherwise outstanding.5
CR2032 & ScrewsMICHAELLooks, quality, and performance are exactly what I expected from these cellular blinds. Blackout performance is perfect. There will a little light bleed around the perimeter of the blind (not through the shade as it is blackout material) when inside mounted to the window frame. Just remember for the install, the remote control requires a 3v button cell battery (not included) and appropriate screws. If you’re new to the IKEA Home Smart ecosystem, be aware that the TRÅDFRI gateway has been out of stock for months because of supply availability so you’ll be able to control these with the included remote, but will have to wait for the gateway’s availability or the release of IKEA’s new DIRIGERA hub (possibly Q4 2022) for smart integration.5

Did you know that air is a natural insulator?

Our cellular blinds are a cost- and energy-saving way to create a comfy indoor climate. They effectively reduce heat loss caused by drafts and they reduce excess heat from the sun. The blinds are made up of smaller cells that trap the air and transform it into an insulating barrier between the window and the room. Choose TREDANSEN cellular blind for a block-out effect or PRAKTLYSING cellular blind for a calm filtering effect.
