A different purposeKayUsing it to hold circular knitting needles of various sizes.4
impractical and unusableJessicaI was legit excited when I saw this, because it was marketed in store as convenient storage for the markers you can get in the kids art section. I love those and have purchased them several times. Well, I was definitely disappointed because this doesn’t work for those. Only maybe 1/4 of the 24 loops fit the markers. Many are a tight squeeze even for a standard sized pencil. And don’t get me started on the loops not lining up. The sizes don’t even match from one side of this thing to the other. What a waste of money. :-(1
Not as functional as I’d hoped?AlisonI’m very confused by the loops on this, in fact I googled it because I figured I wasn’t using it correctly. But nope, the loops are all different sizes and some line up unevenly. Why? Was this a choice or an error? I’m a perfectionist and this is going to drive me out of my MIND. 😩3

Look carefully at the loopsAnonymousI love these pencil roll things. Only concern is that the loops don’t match. Whoever sewed the loops didn’t do it evenly. The pencils can’t be evenly spaced and it strains them when placed diagonally. Making it also hard to roll tightly. 3
How am I supposed to use this…HannahBought it at the store so I didn’t see photos of how you’re supposed to use this but I thought “yeah, I’ve used something like this, it’ll be perfect for my pencils!” And lo and behold, I go to put my pencils in it and the loops aren’t equal sizes. The ones on the top are wider than the ones on the bottom. I just wanna know WHY. Who made that decision?? 3
multi-taking storageAngelathis is a great way to store/organize several different sized drawing/coloring tools in one easy to take on the go case.5
Poorly constructed Ruby EasowThe slots are stitched unevenly. Few are so small for a pencil to get through and few big. The bottom and top slots don’t align making it practically unusable.1
AewsomeAngieI got it to hold my crochet hooks- it holds them all no problem & i have room for more!5
Simple art rollKyleThe cloth roll holds a complete collection of colored pencils as designed. The blank canvas also proved a useful place for art to be added itself.5
Super durable RadmilaReally sterdy and durable. Fits small to medium brushes. 5
Works great for meLisaI used a handful of these to store my cricut and specialty craft pens and markers. Although the top and bottom loops don't align perfectly, this system still works well for me - I attach the loops on the cap end, which makes it easy to read the color on the body of the pen. Came back to purchase more!5
Good organizerAknightGood organizer 5
Artist brush holderRobertI bought this to hold my brushes for transport. The thought was great, but the case was about not quite long enough to protect my brush tips.4
great!CaseyMy kids are both artists and carry various pens and pencils daily to school and anywhere they go. This is a great way for them to store them and keep them in good condition. I would like it to be a little less expensive as it really hit the top of my limit of what I was willing to spend but I haven't found one this size anywhere else.5
Great tool for kidsKatieA great way to keep things organized 5
Mismatched loopsAmandaThe loops that hold the pencils are mismatched sizes and do not line up properly. Horrible and unusable for its intended purpose. 1
Art supplies LesaMy husband and I love to draw and often we are using our colored pencils. This item lets us organize them and store them. I like that they are snug and cannot roll around and become damaged. We bought 2 of these. 5
Graduation GiftsJarredWe always give graduation gifts from Ikea - tool kits, alarm clocks, generally. But we are going to "road test" this item - along with the set of pencils. I think it would also be a cool gift to send to a college student, or exchange student, around mid-terms. "Take a break. Doodle. Get back to those studies!"5

Function solution

Professional tools that inspire creativity

For us at IKEA, creativity is a playful way of exploring the world. So, when young artists from all over the world told us how they needed more professional tools, we developed the SOLFÅGEL series – a range that inspires creativity and helps them to develop their skills. Here are acrylic paints, colored pencils for sketching and shading, a canvas pad, a case for pencils and brushes, as well as an easel with a palette and spatula for mixing the paints.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

“As a teenager, I loved to paint. It was a calm bubble that made me feel good – and I think today's youth might need this break from their everyday surroundings too. With the SOLFÅGEL collection, IKEA wants to help them. There’s everything from a portable easel to acrylic paints and a canvas pad. All with a high quality that helps them develop creative skills and reach new levels in their artistry. Democratizing art is close to my heart."
