Not safe. Arrived broken and cut my handDanielaIkea, this item is not safe for use in households. The packaging is a single sheet of cardboard, nothing else. I got it delivered with a larger order and it arrived smashed to pieces. But because of how it was packaged, I had no idea it was smashed, so I reached into the package and pulled it out, only to find that the glass was all broken. As I set the package aside a small piece of glass cut my finger and got so deep it took me a while to get it out. I requested a refund. I am not putting this item in my house. The risk of serious accidents in case it falls from the wall, etc is too high. Please make this child-proof so if it breaks it doesn't send small pieces of glass all over the place. 1

Material

What is mirror glass?

Mirror glass is made of mostly of ordinary glass with a reflective coating in some kind of metal. In the past it was common for the coating to contain lead or mercury – but over time, both of these metals have been shown to be harmful to people and the environment. That’s why, as of several years ago, IKEA has a total ban on using lead or mercury in our mirrors and instead it is non-toxic silver or aluminium that reflects your mirror image.
