Great Bed Frame, Worst baseSanjeevThe Malm bed frame is the best thing I’ve used for last 15 years. The Lonset slatted base was an absolute nightmare to assemble and I almost injured my fingers trying to flush the screws using the Allen key provided by IKEA. Finally it never fitted the bed frame and I ended up throwing it away. I called customer service and explained my problem and instead of offering me Luroy slatted base that comes with the bed frame, they expected me to buy it separately which I consider is a ripoff considering I paid extra $80 dollars to get the Lonset slatted base. They could have been more considerate and helpful but they didn’t. It was not possible to carry the Lonset base after assembly in my small car to return it without damaging the fragile structure.2
Great looking bedframeKathleenEasy to assemble and looks great in the room. Very simple and elegant.5
Nice design-bad buildRahulBuilding this was a pain. Provided wrench BROKE easily. Screws for support did not go in easily at all. Ikea’s inventory online seems extremely uneven-said in vs out of stock within the same town but different zip code requiring me to change delivery zip codes, products, etc. to get an order in.3
Very disappointed!! AhmadThe quality of the bed frame and the wood is extremely poor and very disappointing. I never expected such low-quality craftsmanship from IKEA, especially for a king-size bed. It’s definitely not worth the money.1

Bed slats keep falling throughMatthewIt's a solid enough bed, but the wooden slats keep falling through (violently, I might add). Looked it up and this is apparently a common problem. I've tried using wood glue to keep it in place, but that only holds for a few months before they start popping again. How has this issue just never been addressed? This is a huge problem with the bed!2
UnhappyEstherThe bed frame was difficult to put together. Too many steps, screws driver was not included, is not sturdy is wobbly and some parts under keep falling apart and i am very unhappy with my purchase I wish I drive I could have returned it, I have to save extra money to buy another bedframe now1
Great but makes noise when you get upJoshuaVerified all hardware is tight. The support bar makes noise. No bed spring. Other than that great4
Very unstableAngelI don’t recommend this bed if you plan to disassemble it. It’s very noisy and not stable1
Great bed AbigailThis bed frame is really nice and doesn’t take up to much room. I bought it without the wooden slats which was a very bad idea because my mattress was sinking in on all corners. I don’t know why that was an option but other then that it’s very sturdy. 4
Malm bedEricaLove it so simple and good quality5
Great Bed for 20yrsMyrnaBought this back in college as my first bed, living on my own. It has followed me across multiple states and into marriage, retiring as a guest room bed with the matching dresser. Just this last year the center beam finally gave out. The small piece that fits into the footboard broke. With the nearest Ikea over 5 hours away and no way to have parts shipped to home, we're having to officially retire the bed. Really wish Ikea would start allowing home shipping.4
20 years JulieI bought one of these around 2005. Retired it to storage 5-6 years ago. Relocated and brought it back out for “temporary use “ in a rental while doing renovations on an old home we bought . That has been 2 years now… The bed is still solid and looks good. The simple wood slat frame that I bought with it is perfect for latex mattress. It’s a deal. I just bought a new platform bed for the new old house that is very expensive but doesn’t have the correct spacing. Requiring additional $300 for a good bunkie board. Bought the nightstands too at the time. These have held up well and still in storage at the other home for a possible future need.5
Frame snapped after 6 yearsLeighThis has been our bed frame for our queen mattress since mid-2019. I’ve never been a huge fan of the frame — it squeaks and is noisy. However, I went to sit on the edge and the entire frame snapped. Neither me or my husband are large people, so it should have no issue supporting the weight. I’m very concerned too because my dog sleeps under the bed; luckily he was not under it when the frame broke. It is not a secure frame and I do not recommend purchasing. If I could go back in time, I’d buy a different frame.2
Bed slats come separately. Very unstableSyedThe bed itself is fine but the bed slats are not stable. The bed has caved in multiple times1
Central beam broke!TanyaWhile sleeping the central beam broke. If this is a known issue why not recall? It is dangerous.1
Get the Lonset slatted baseEricAll of the reviews about the bed squeaking are because people are choosing the cheaper slatted base. Get the more expensive one, put the frame together tight, retighten after a couple weeks, and you're good. This is a $300 frame, not $1200. So don't expect it to feel like a $1200 frame. I have had this frame in an airbnb for 4 years and it's been incredibly solid. About to buy another one.5
Don’t buy JamesThe middle part bent 1
Loudest Bedframe ValeriaNo that hard to assemble but since we put it together we can’t really use the bed because of all the noise it makes it’s definitely extremely loud wouldn’t recommend it at all 1
The bed is not strong as expected and missing the nuts and bolts and screws JanakI don’t see option for return and none is available to talk as well 1
