Great for priceBrittanyThis easel is super sturdy and is well made. My daughter loves it and has been wanting one for a while. This was honestly the best price out there for the quality.5

Great JoanneGreat size, good quality. Only thing i wish it had was some type of "blade" that would help with cutting paper but other than that, it's a good product.5

Great Gift for ToddlerKimMy daughter absolutely loves how she can do pretty much any art project on/with it. She uses the reverse side for her chalk, the white board with dry erase, and the paper rolls for her paintings and sketches. Great christmas present for my 3.5yo daughter. 5

Love love love!YunaIf your child loves to draw, this is a perfect addition for their study or playroom. My daughter loves to draw on whiteboard and color on the paper roll. I purchased a paper roll that goes with this board and i love it!! 5
Disappointed with itHaishanI bought this twice, and I returned the first one because the white board was so hard to clean. Handwriting is impossible to erase. And for the second one, it’s a little better, but it still hard to erase the marker, the one I bought at IKEA. I am really upset about it.3
Kids boardRobertoGreat board for children. They love to draw on it5
MÅLA Easel, softwood

For artists in all sizes

After more than 20 years in the range, the MÅLA easel is a real hero that millions of children have loved. But nothing is so good that it can’t be improved. So, we rolled up our sleeves and tweaked several important details. After that, we asked some parents what they thought of the prototype. Their input helped us make the easel even smarter.

“Through the years, we’ve got some comments on the easel. For example, that the paper roll was difficult to roll up, and that it was complicated to fold up and store away the easel.” tells Jorge Omar Santoyo Henaine, who works with product development at Children’s IKEA.

Good can get better

Together with the supplier and designers, we didn’t only manage to correct the problems; we also lowered the price and extended the drawing surface down to the floor. “It makes it possible for smaller children to reach a larger surface, and older children can sit down on the floor when they draw and paint.” But was the easel good enough now, or could it get even better? “To find out, we invited parents in a store to test and comment. This way, we could ask questions and listen to their reflections.”

Easier to paint – and clean up

Parents appreciated that the tray for pens, brushes, and paint is made of easy to maintain plastic instead of wood. But they thought it should be on both sides so two children can draw and paint at the same time. And one parent said: “My child spills and makes a mess, I want to be able to rinse the tray in the sink.” “It convinced us that it’s better if you can remove the trays. We want to make life more simple and more creative for both the children and their parents, and to succeed it’s crucial to involve them like we did that day in the store.”

Quality

Creative geniuses come in small sizes!

Paint! Draw! Shape! The MÅLA series has everything a child needs to unleash their imagination and creativity – and store drawings. There’s an easel, colorful modelling dough, grip-friendly brushes and scissors that suit tiny hands, and paint that is easy to mix and wash off. No nagging your child to put caps back on the felt-tip pens – they survive 3 days without caps. And everything’s non-toxic. Since we care just as much about the next generation’s creative minds as you do.
